Theres both objective and subjective quality. Similar to what you said about art style, you may not like a game's gameplay or writing because it doesn't fit your personal taste, that doesn't mean theres isn't quality work put onto it.

Gameplay and writing cannot be gauged in a objective way. You can make vague, objective statements like: "This game features a story" or "You play the game by pressing buttons" (if said game is played by pressing buttons), but you can never, ever, make a valoration of said gameplay and writing in an objective way.

I entirely disagree with that statement. But thats not a discussion to have in this thread.

Just give me any kind of valoration that isn't subjective. It's impossible.

Valorations are given under oneself's perception of that what you are valorating. Even assessing the amount of quality work that went into writing and gameplay is subjective in itself.

Ive played the game for about 17hrs now. And i love it. Yes, I believe it's a step in the right direction.

As for the game itself, I feel it's a strange mix. It's like a contradiction. It has a lot of great things, but nearly all of them feel underdeveloped. I can pretty much say that about everything I've seen about the game so far. Everything just feels like it could have been a little better or like the entire game needed another year in the oven.

But I love it because it's doing so much that I had never seen iFF game to date and that I hope will become staples in FF games to come.

It's nice to know that the defense of a mediocre combat system is to bash turn based.

Really?

Ok, i guess i was wise to have avoided this thread till now. Ive played eveey mainline FF game out there, and sank in more than 17hrs into FFXV. I'm also the tyoe that prefrr games like DMC, Bloodborne, Ninja gaiden, Dark souls, GOW.....etc. And i honestky do not see anyyhing mediocre about the ckmbat system in this game. And when i read stuff like this, I can't help but feel like it's coming from someone that simply hasn't played it.

Ah well, going back to the game.

Am I the only one who thinks the numbers are getting ridiculously high? They should ditch the numbered titles and just go with a different subtitle each time, like the Zelda series does.

It's only XV lol.

I'd rather go by number instead of having 15 names to remember.

So far the story is very sub standard from past FF games, on Chapter 9 right now and so far It's pretty bare story wise.

Fore the reasons you listed is why BD is my more regretable 3DS purchase..I even got the CE. ugh...

Yeah, it was a decent game before it suddenly fell off a steep cliff and undid everything good. Also annoying that reviewers didn't write anything about that significant flaw and handed out great scores, making it look like one of the best JRPGs of the generation.

It was definitely bad. I felt like I was robbed or something. I was also surprised reviewers didn't mention that obvious flaw and gave the game those scores. The game doesn't deserve it.

I feel, after playing FFXV, that it's definitely not a step in the right direction. I'm sure now. FF, just because of production values and franchise legacy, should easily be the best JRPG of the gen. It was completely destroyed by a mid-budget game like TMS#FE, which only proves that budget is not everything, again.

well I am only 6 hours in (chapter 2, I am doing all the sidequest and bounties as I come across them).

I will say yes so far.

Give me this formula with more of a FFVI setting and I will be in heaven.

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

come on its better then ff13 LMAO

Final Fantasy 13 series set the bar too low.

So it doesent matter if 15 is better than 13 because 13 is utter shit.

And watching the gameplay of 15 i can see that the same flaws are present and many more.

I wonder if square is going to add significant content as dlc soon. Because there seems to be a lack of content right now.

The thing is this game was never meant to be the main line Final Fantasy Game thats why it was called versus 13. And Square Enix had no choice but to turn this game into a numbered Final Fantasy, if i remember correctly some western studio was supposed to be developing Final Fantasy 15 in space like mass effect. but that project got canned, and with Versus 13 being 35 t0 40% completed, Nomura dark vision, and multiple entries i guess square decided to make changes to the game to fit the main line series hence tabata comes in. So the game we are seeing now is half of Nomura's vision and other half slapped on by SE to be XV.

Grin was making a Final Fantasy but it was not a mainline. Just a spinoff. Grin was asked to develop many Japanese franchises. Bionic Commando both Rearmed (awesome game)and the 2009 Wife Arms game that was awful and Strider which had a much more realistic tone and look (looked like shit TBH and glad we got the Double Helix 2014 game instead ) and Final Fantasy Fortres

Grin's project is very well documented and the game was a proper spin off to follow up after Versus 13 got over, It was intended to be Versus XV. But the one I'm talking about is Project W at Eidos montreal. After Lighting returns sqaure had sort of confirmed that they could be outsourcing the game to a western studio and eidos was bought for that reason.
