That's one one thing that's really bothering me,  aside from being stalked by enemy ships every 200 steps the world lacks the real feeling that a war has even happened.  You have towns with buzzing happy music while apparently this big war just happened.  Even noct and co don't seem to care to much,  being more than happy to help everyone out while his dad only just died 5 minutes earlier.

But isnt that sort of normal for the franchise?

I remember being completely thrown out of FFX's story many times because there was a giant killing god destroying everything around and everyone was like "we need to distract ourselves with Blitzball to not think about that Giant thing killing us all. And then the Al Bhed were kidnapping the only people who could stop him, even for a certain period of time. They really didnt think that one through.

FFX's idea of people doing that makes sense. I have friends in countries like Venezuela where theres shit going down everywhere but the people dont talk about it. Why? It's depressing and they dont want to be reminded by their depressing situation so they distract themselves with stuff like sports and tv.

Yeah I kinda like the quirky life of Final Fantasy characters...it really is like Japanese society...they have a massive tsunami one day and the next week they are all bounce back to normal. Half of America talks about an election almost a month after its been decided...they even go to video game forums to complain about them.

It is way better than XIII, let me get that out of the way.

Is it a good FF? Well... not exactly. What it did was try to copy Xenoblade, and theres nothing wrong with that. We got a decent game. Theres also alot of influences from the FFXIV:ARR. The game world feels exactly the same bar one beeing more advanced technologically on outposts. Not necessarely a bad thing, but for a cinematic game, the world seems in suspension of disbelief because its citizens hardly react to the major story events diminishing their importance.

The problem is that square is under the impression that it's old FF's formula is outdated, when in fact, it isn't. I mean the FF1-9 formula. Not the FFX one.

There is alot of merit in how the old games managed to portray a whole world, rather than a few regions. On that not the Tales series has made the same mistake.

FFX i think was probably the worst thing to happen to JRPG's. Even though it wasn't the worst thing ever, the inspiration drawn from it certainly was.

So, step in the right direction? It's a step in a better direction. But i do wish they tried to make a new game with the old formula but modern graphics. Some of the old things, like the world mp gave the different regions a real sense of belong in the world. Well... maybe i'd just like to see them do that properly again. What we got in XV is serviceable, but it's not that game that was breaking bounderies in storytelling, characters and dramatic pieces in a whole coehesive world with a tactical combat with amazing over the top special effects where you connect to your whole cast, rather than one character only.

The movie itself did not help, seeing how we see this talk about the kingdom abadoning the country side, and how things are in ruin and disray in the country side, because of the war revaging the lands.

I feel it is.

I also feel that the only people who argue otherwise are the same kind of people who preordered collectors editions of Bravely Default.

Which is a pretty good game :) Its what Final Fantasy used to be basically.

Old School made modern.

It is indeed a good game.

Its a fun game, has humor, although your companions do get repetitive and sometimes annoying. The side quests are very repetitive, but the world is beautifull so its worth exploring even tough the quests you are on are generally "find this" or "kill that" its still fun.

The main quest has good and bad things, the storytelling hasn't been great, but there have been a few interesting things and some moments did feel epic.

The main problem I have with the game is the combat is quite boring and not as strategic as old final fantasy games, even compared to FFXII the combat is a joke. Also the music and the emotional feel are completely gone.

Its a step in the good direct to make Final Fantasy fun again but its a bad step story- and engagement wise. So although I will definitely complete and enjoy the game, I think its a step in the wrong direction for the franchise.

I'm so glad you mentioned this...besides the stand by me song...music has been pretty mellow and quiet for this game....

it never dawned on me that there were no big songs that are sticking with me on this game...then again its been one day LOL

It`s a massive leap... in the wrong direction.

And no, it doesn`t live up to what an FF game should be. It`s FF in name only, nothing more.

People have been saying this for ages now. Thing is the series will probably never be what it once was.

The thing is this game was never meant to be the main line Final Fantasy Game thats why it was called versus 13. And Square Enix had no choice but to turn this game into a numbered Final Fantasy, if i remember correctly some western studio was supposed to be developing Final Fantasy 15 in space like mass effect. but that project got canned, and with Versus 13 being 35 t0 40% completed, Nomura dark vision, and multiple entries i guess square decided to make changes to the game to fit the main line series hence tabata comes in. So the game we are seeing now is half of Nomura's vision and other half slapped on by SE to be XV.

I sincerely think so, as a long time fan.
Sagas need to evolve to stay relevant.
And FF XV, while feeling like a true Final Fantasy, is definitely a more modern vision.

I now truely understand why it is a "Final Fantasy for fans and newcomers"

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.
