Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Take-Two: Nintendo “making a great effort to support third-party developers”, “optimistic” about Switch

Remember, we only got praises from Ubisoft for Wii U, Take 2, Bethesda weren't too optimistic about Wii U. To see this turnaround is very interesting. I'm not interested in T2's content but the more the better. Switch is shaping up to be something really special I think. Can't wait to hear more about.

The same exact guy said Take 2 was "very, very excited" by Wii U.

The Wii U also had NBA 2K13 at launch. And even NBA 2K14 I think.

It was only 2K13. I know because I've been playing it for almost four years now.

Non-exclusive sports sims will never sell well on Nintendo consoles because Nintendo completely condeded that market after N64, and it would take Nintendo doing something along the lines of winning an exlusive MLB/NFL/NBA license to ever get people to associate sports sims with Nintendo consoles again.

I am sure the 720p tablet owners will enjoy watching RDR2 "let's plays" everywhere, let's hope the battery holds

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've heard it all before.
Come back to us a year from today to see where 3rd party stands then and moving forward, THEN we'll talk.

Oh no worries.I will be too busy playing Breath Of The Wild. Thanks for being worried for me though!

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Clear logic says that games will sell better if platform is more popular and install base is better than if we have another Wii U situation.

3DS hardware is very week, most of developers didn't want to bother with such weak hardware, Switch is incomparible stronger than 3DS and actual 3rd party game can run on it.

3DS still had perfectly good engines for more Metal Gear, Tekken, Ridge Racer, Street Fighter, FIFA, Madden, etc. games ... none of those developers bothered, even the many of the Japanese devs and I don't think Switch will sell even as well as the 3DS. So we'll see.

Nintendo fans need to start actually buying some third party content too, this is part of the problem. I will buy NBA 2K because I actually like sports games, but the rest of the Switch fan base ... lol, I doubt it.

With the Wii U it was a lot of bitching and crying when games ran like 5 fps slower than the PS3/360 and that was the justification for not supporting games, well guess what? Switch is not going to be parity either. It's weaker hardware. People better support these games or they're not going to get more or them. That's just the bottom line.

3DS has shit week hardware, like wrote, most of developers didn't want to bother with such weak hardware and 240p screen.

Switch owners will buy games they want, period. Luckily, on Switch there will not be just Nintendo fans who want only 3rd party games.

But reality is that 3rd parties are more positive about Switch than they were for Wii U, reality is that Switch has very modern tech and architecture compared to Wii U hardware and that can also affect 3rd parties, reality is also that 3rd parties are aware of fact that with Switch people can play their console games on go to (that isnt able on XB1/PS4 for instance) and that can attract some buyers (like I wrote I saw people saying they buying Swith so they could play Skyrim on go).

I am not sure the logic going through people's heads.
"Take 2 isn't actually developing games for the Switch, so instead they're doing PR for the console."
That makes no logical sense.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Optimistic about the Switch

Hopefully it meets expectations

It's not as bad as the people that shat bricks when Nintendo said that the games in the Switch unveil trailer like Skyrim and 2K weren't confirmed, even though it makes absolutely no sense for Nintendo to be giving Skrym and and 2K free advertising if they aren't coming to the Switch.

I doubt it. 3rd party has been enemy to Nintendo since the NES days. I doubt that they are doing all that much to help 3rd party. Even if they are helping like they should, more than likely the eventual answer for most AAA 3rd party games will be that it doesn't fly on it. Unless they remake the whole thing so that some sort of chibi version of the actual game happens.

If they're making "great efforts" then we should see "great results", but my guess is this'll be a lot like the Wii U ... some major third party games, but many missing. Like where's GTA Take 2? Why can't that be there on day 1?

GTA will not be bound by a console launch. GTA comes out when it's done. And even then, only when it feels like it. It's one of the perks of being the biggest anything ever.
