So instead of being compared with a game I`ve now played it`s now being compared with what I consider to be the worst battle system to ever appear in FF (yes, even worse than 13), just great.

You misspelt Best

Honestly though without the Gambit system of XII I can't see XV's combat being all that great

actually it sounds more to me like Dragon Age Inquisition without the tactical aspect.

Having played the Judgment Disc demo, I know for a fact it feels nothing like FF XII.

People who oversimplify what the battle system is like clearly haven't explored it at all. Sure enough, the battle system deepens as you progress through the Ascension system.

You can thank Tabata for that.

Nomura's FFXV would have been like KH but we got this instead.

Unless I'm mistaken, Nomura's FFXV would also have character switching.

Glad to have another opinion on this. I'm hoping  Ren just hasn't gotten far enough into it.

Indeed so far I can't imagine what might make me still enjoy the gameplay in 10 game hours.

If you're going in for the story, you will definitely enjoy the game. While can't tell much of the story yet, the universe and characters feel more real than ever before in a linear RPG. A lot of details make sur the immersion is like never before, from the camping cutscenes to Prompto pictures. I tought these would be useless features until actually playing the game, now i feel like every other RPGs will feel bland.

How very encouraging

Well i hope the game will prove me wrong lol

The story, music and graphics will keep playing either way.

As far as I saw, the ascenscion gives you power and a few allied skills, a few nice passives but no groundbreaking new gameplay features.

But we may unlock a second ascencion map for all I know.

It feels nothing like XII to me. And thank god for that. XII is the least favorite FF and XV is shaping up to be my favorite.

The directional input is a key part of the combat, unlocking the airsteps through the Ascension adds ton of dynamism, mixing both aerial and ground combat is a joy. Absolutely nothing like XII static system.

Also, the party command upgrades unlocks some strategics commands like regrouping and healing. Such commands are done in real time as well.

You will be also unlocking weapons that mix stuff up like warping / attacking but at a cost, also diffirent kinds of ranged weapons and so on.  Way too early for you :)

Ha.Not even close to Ff12.I have never seen this type of gameplay in a FF game yet or remotely close to it(Any main ones at least).Love this combat system BTW.

If FFXII is your point of comparison for gameplay then im totally in. FFXII had one of the best - if not the very best - battle system of any FF.
