The fact it says Nintendo on the box is its only saving grace.

The fact it says Nintendo AND Nvidia on the box means more when AMD ARM chips lag far behind Nvidia's ARM chips.

I'm not even sure its going to say Nvidia on the box. But for sure it will say Nintendo.

I dunno, a PC portable feels wrong somehow. Besides, I buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games.

Nvidias Shield Console and Shield Tablet (used Tegra ships as well) flopped hard in the past. Advertised launch games (like crysis 3 on shield console) never got released, no post launch support and really low sales. We will see.

But Nintendo could have used AMD x86 chips instead of ARM. The same that are used in PS4/Xbox One. But the problem is that these chips can't be used in portable right now

The Smach Z uses a x86 AMD low Voltage APU. ARMS are definitly the better choice for nintendo though, they are still better in energy effiency and heat.

The SMACH Z didnt had a choice though, it needs full x86 compability for pc games.

The main differences betwenn those two hardwares and the constant accusation of "hipocrisy" throw around in the thread is really resumed to some key points:

1)Its Nintendo. When Nintendo is involved with something, you know you are getting quality out of it.It may not be the best system evar, with the most powerful nuclear reactor powered CPU, but you know you are getting a high quality product, with garanteed support for a good while.

2)Nintendo games over zero exclusives from that machine. This point is self explanatory.

3)Wether you like to admit or not, the Seitch will have a much better optimization for its games than this ones does. The same way that PS4 and XOne games are optimized and are able to run games better than a PC with the equivalent power as those systems.

4)Price.Switch is 50 dollars cheaper, comes with (probably) better controllers with (probably) more functions, and in the end, either due to better optimization and/or more overall power, games will run much better on it.

5)This one is early to say, but the Switch may have not only offer more functions, but also do more and better than this system you presented.( more apps, more functionalities, integration with Miiverse in a interesting way, etc)

6)Its Nintendo. The same way that the name Apple alone goes a long way to sell its products, so does Nintendo. And Sony. And Microsoft. And Disney. And so on.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Yeah, dedicated N fans aren't that many compared to the general population of gamers. I should note, though, that I don't own a WiiU myself, even though I'm a longtime fan, so mabye there are others like me.

But what's that got to do with anything? The device in the OP still doesn't appeal to me, personally.

I think this is a waste of money, not because I hate the design or anything, looks kinda cool but judging by the video, games are not optimized for this thing and I would not expect a lot of support like patches or updates from developers, $300 or $500 is too much for what it is. better buy a Switch or a 3ds+Vita Combo if you need portability. For $199 I would think about it.

^This... would be the main reason for this device to fail even with better specs than Switch and Vita and the WiiU...

But I have to say it, the buttons and joysticks distributions are far better than those of the Switch. I never liked Nintendo Controls, with the exception of SNES' ones.
