Forums - Politics Discussion - Meet the new US Secretary of Education

I am a public school teacher that has wanted the department of education to be destroyed for years. The local districts should have power and if they screw up the people will vote the school board members out. It is as simple as that. We don't need feds or even state level people telling us what to do.

The lowest level you can drop to is blaming teachers, the people who make doctors engineers and other fields. Because without good teachers a country is an uneducated pile of backwards dirt. Teachers are severely underpaid not overpaid. Lawyers are overpaid and so are dentists, in America at least.

Underpaid yet they consume the most expenses according to most public school budgets ...

How come Europeans figured a way out of this mess long ago and the US hasn't followed suit?

It's cause our kids have very little motivation ...

Look at what the east asians are doing with a fraction of what they invest in education ...

They're certainly closer to being the master race with an average IQ of 105 ...

And just for the record, if teacher pay was any lower nobody would even bother. I am a public teacher and anyone in my life that knows what I have to go through tells me I'm not paid enough as it is, let alone am I overpaid. Anyone who thinks public teachers are overpaid has no clue what we go through.

I disagree with the last part. Private Schools dont deny science lol.

:( What can you even say? The sheer amount of bullet points in the op that indicate she shouldn't even have even been considered is scary. Climate change denier heading the EPA, and now this. Trump is the fool many of us knew he was.

Its going to be sad when the country is a dried up husk after its said and done. But hey, the people wanted this.

Assuming there isn't some massive international crisis, I'm hoping things will be ok.  If things really are disastrous, it will hopefully be useful as a rallying cry that will help put democrats in control of the house and senate in 2018.

From there, the ridiculous stuff Trump supports can be blocked, the rational stuff (of which there is at least some) can be supported, and hopefully he'll be out after a term.

I'm genuinely confused as to what you think should be taking up most of the public school budget if not employees.

Came in expecting a Christian and wasn't disappointed!

I stand amused at the fall of the mighty USA. I still feel sorry for the half that isn't err... infected by Trump fever.

America takes another step towards disaster, what a surprise. -_-
