I love them all in their own way, so it is a tough choice for me. I went with the GameCube.

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were and are amazing games. Pikmin was an amazing new franchise. The controller is an all-time great.

Then I look at the rest of Nintendo's output on the console. I spent a lot of hours. Had a lot of fun. But when I compare them to previous entries or later entries, they just don't quite measure up for me.

and thats part of the problem, why even put your game on a system knowing it would flop? especially when there are systems where that wont happen?

To be fair, it's not like failure was a foregone conclusion; plenty of third party software performed well on post-SNES Nintendo consoles.

honestly at this point...isnt it? I mean you arent wrong, but what kind of 3rd party games sold? what is plenty? they didnt do too hot on GC which was to be expected as PS2 ate the world. THe wii was fine for shovelware which was to be expected and Wii u...yeah.

Plenty of non-shovelware third party Wii games passed the proverbial million mark; Goldeneye 007, Monster Hunter Tri, Sonic Colours/Secret Rings/Unleashed/Black Knight/All Stars Racing, Resident Evil 4/Umbrella Chronicles/Darkside Chronicles, Call of Duty 3/W@W/MW1/BO, Epic Mickey, Need for Speed Carbon/Pro Street, Boom Blox, Shaun White Snowboarding, etc.

On GC, you had Rogue Squadron 2, Resident Evil 4, Soul Caliber 2, Need for Speed Underground 1 & 2, Spiderman, Sonic Adventure/Heroes, etc.

sure but many more didnt, and when you put it up against the other systems it makes it look worse

The fact remains though that there were third party games that sold well on post-SNES Nintendo consoles. If you knew what you were doing and offered a desirable product, there was money to be made from Nintendo gamers.

but even more to be made elsewhere, for pretty much the same thing.

Making games for one doesn't rule out making games for the other though. It's perfectly possible to make your games on Nintendo, Playstation, and Xbox, and profit from all three. We saw this last gen with games like Sonic and COD.

if you have finite resources, which i imagine a lot of these companies do, yeah it kinda does. And we saw with this gen that sometimes it isnt possible considering how poorly those two franchises sold on the Wii U why ignore the most recent numbers?
