Forums - Sales Discussion - Watch_Dogs 2 sells only 1/5 of Watch Dogs 1 first week in UK

In the recents weeks we saw some disappoint numbers from some new release.
We talk of course about games like Titanfall 2, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, or Dishonored 2, which sold way less than the previus games.

Today GFK released the week ending 19 November in UK, and was the first week for Watch Dogs 2.

We already knew pre orders were low, according to Ubisoft, but we are still talking about a huge drop.

Watch Dogs 2 apparently sold only about 1/5 of the first game in UK during launch week, we know this because we have numbers for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which are less than 80,000 units this week, and we know Watch Dogs 2 is under that.

The first Watch Dogs has sold 388,000 units first week in UK back in May 2014, that’s a huge difference.

We’ll see how Watch Dogs 2 will do this year, maybe deals during holidays and bundles will help, but as for now, this is quite bad.

Interesting.

This holiday seems far more competitive but as mentioned many sequels have underperformed. Would love this to means more emphasis on new exciting IPs on a more frequent basis.

Oh and of course Watch Dogs 1 left a sour taste many peoples mouths. That wouldn't have helped

Confirms what I already said many times.

The original Watch_Dogs is one of the most bland and forgettable games I've ever tried. It was horrible.

this was expected honestly. overall, this year saw very disappointing numbers for many high profile releases.

Why Ubisoft decided to carry on a game IP that was hit which universal bad reviews due to poor gameplay, plenty of bugs and watered down graphics I'll never understand. Poor sales of the second was almost inevitable due to the above.

Not surprising. Maybe this is a good thing.

Must be Brexit.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

wonder how Pokémon will do next week with all those disappoint. It's just gonna looks so much better with all these flops

My bet is about 150% higer than XY and ORAS, for a 300-350k opening week.

I honestly would like to see that number be lower, I really feel that games from developers who have a track record on trying to see a product on misleading trailers it was nice to see that 1/5th of people have learned their lesson from the first game, when a company abuses the customers who pre-order their games that is their best customer being attacked for a quick buck, and it's nice to see that number decline.
