Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why updated ports make sense for Nintendo fans

People werent interested in getting a wii u for those games so I doubt they will be interested to get a switch for the first games. nintendo really should do something new and dont repeat failures.

My iPhone is as powerfull and can play similar games

People werent interested in getting a Wii U for many reasons, such as bad marketing/advertising, high price & constant software droughts. It wasnt that the games werent appealing, it was that the appealing games were too far and few in between.

3D Mario released a full year after launch, Mario Kart 1.5 years after launch, Smash Bros 2 years after launch, Splatoon 2.5 years after launch, Zelda still hasnt released, no mainline Pokemon titles, no mainline Animal Crossing, etc.

Having 3D Mario, Smash Bros, Splatoon, Pokemon, Zelda, Mario Kart all in its first year means the chances of early success are high.

And no you will not be able to play similar games on your iPhone, thats just a flat out dumb statement.

Fine, Nathan Drake Collection & Last of Us Remastered are tied for #10 best selling games on PS4 with 4.5 million sales each.

Master Chief Collection & Gears of War Ultimate are the #10 & #11 best selling games on XBO with over 3 million sales each.

The Last of Us is for many people one of the best games ever made with a metascoe of 95. No wii u port has a similar high number (smash comes close). Also it was a compelte new IP.

Halo master Chief collection is a bundle of 4 games, sold for the priece of 1 game. Similar for Gears and Uncharted. The prieces were about right.

Also most of those games were already some years old. And ALL of those games already got a sequel shortly after the release of the collection.

Im sure nintendo will sell splatoon 1.5 and co all foor full priece or 40 bucks and sequels wont be about to release.

So just a bunch arbitrary reasons why it was ok for those games but not for these games.......got it.

lol it will. An iPhone 7 (A10Fusion) is WAY stronger then the tegra x1 (pixel c) and most likely also more powerfull then the x2.  All three are mobile arm chips so its very compareable. Nvidia was never a market leader in arm chips, apple, snapdragon and samsung are.

The iPhone 7 has 730 Gflops: http://forsythanalytics.tumblr.com/iphone7-gpu

The Shield Portable (tegra k ship) had 96: http://kyokojap.myweb.hinet.net/gpu_gflops/

Tegra x1 console (always plugged in) had 350 Gflops: http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Nvidia-Tegra-Hardware-255923/News/Nvidia-Tegra-X1-Maxwell-SoC-20-nm-1147051/

Ok an iPhone 7 is waaaaayyyyyyy stronger, where are the games that compare to the ones you just listed? thats right, they dont exist.

Wii U had plenty of droughts, it usually had a decent holiday quarter but the other 3 quarters usually just had 1 game each.

Nov 2012-Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros U, ZombiU

March 2013-Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Lego City Undercover

August 2013-Pikmin 3

October 2013-Wind Waker HD

November 2013-Super Mario 3D World

February 2014-DKC: Tropical Freeze

May 2014-Mario Kart 8

September 2014-Hyrule Warriors

October 2014-Bayonetta 2

November 2014-Smash Bros, Captain Toad

February 2015-Kirby Rainbow Curse

March 2015-Mario Party 10

May 2015-Splatoon

September 2015-Super Mario Maker

October 2015-Yoshi's Woolly World

December 2015-Xenoblade X

March 2016-Twilight Princess HD, Pokken Tournament

April 2016-Star Fox Zero

October 2016-Paper Mario

You can see that 3-4 month droughts between exclusives was not uncommon at all.

I'm not really a fan of ports, unless I missed the original but in this case, I didn't so I probably won't be double dipping

But since so few people actually got the original Wii U games, most don't own it and haven't played it yet so it does make sense..

all these rumored ports are supposed to have a good deal of original content so im sure a good number of people will double dip.

These ports are a slap in the face to Wii U owners. If they were rushed sequels, then it would be OK. The Mario Kart team had plenty of time for a port, so did the Smash Bros team (considering SSB games are developed in a short time).

Yes, rushed sequels are better than improved ports.............

Or... they could just add backward compatibility?

ya because its real easy putting a disc in a cartridge slot.
