Forums - Nintendo Discussion - If Zelda:BotW delay is going to happen, Wii U version will be cancelled.

I really doubt it.

Nintendo is in a critical situation right now, having massively failed with their latest home console and with their handheld business getting smaller because of the mobile games, they really need the Switch to be a clear success. Because of that, they can't afford to piss off their current consumers and the bad press they'd get with such cancellation.

No, they won't cancel the Wii U version.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

The only way I could see the WiiU version being cancelled is if the game was REALLY delayed, like to Holiday 2017. As it stands it's looking like a Summer release.

That... doesn't make any sense. Like... why would they cancel a game that is pretty much finished and ready to launch? A game that has been acclaimed by everyone since the moment they showed it for the first time. A game that everytime that has been delivered to play to the press has been on a Wii U. Probably the most hyped and awaited game the Wii U has ever had. Its potential sales range from 2 to 4 million copies if they don't undership. It just... doesn't make any sense.

Not to mention if they do, they will get their core fans reaaaaaally angry. And they don't want that, not when those have been supporting a failure like the Wii U for 4 years of droughts.

If this happens I will not be surprised.
Nintendo has screwed their fanbase a lot lately.

Nintendo won't cancel it, they've spent big bucks developing it and the Switch user base will take time to become a reasonable size.

Without wii u numbers Zelda numbers will look poor and wasn't Monolith involved in helping develop it. I'm expecting it to be a brilliant swansong for wii u. Even the Zelda windwaker hd rehash sold 2 million on wii u and mario kart has sold 8 million so lets say there is the potential for 4 million sales of which Nintendo make $15 per copy retail and $50 per copy digital with a split of 7 to 1 in favour of retail. That's over 50 million dollars retail and 25 million dollars digital. 75 million dollars Just can't see Nintendo saying no to that. Even if you cut those figures in half with half the sales. 40 million dollars goes a long way.

I'm a wii u owner and I'll be buying it but have not bothered with many other wii u titles that have been popular. I'm not saying I'm a typical wii u owner but I think many wii u owners are still super keen to buy the new Zelda. Looks amazing and great to see a fresh new Zelda experience.

By the time Zelda releases, it will be almost 6 years since Skyward Sword released. I mean that is a ridiculously long time to wait. I don't ever want to wait that long between main entries. A Zelda release is enough to convince me to buy Nintendo's system. The absolute best case scenario, is we'll get 2 main entries of Zelda during the Switch's lifetime . It's been just too damn long.

I expect a fairly limited release on Wii U. The Eurogamer report that stated Zelda has been pushed back also stated Nintendo still plan to release the Wii U version of the game. From Nintendo's perspective, they may as well sell as many copies as possible given how long this Zelda has been in development. Not every Wii U owner is going to upgrade to Switch to play Zelda.

I laugh at stupid Switch design.

That's fine then. It's your opinion I guess. But you really have Nintendo on the mind despite saying you're no longer a fan :P.

Dont you know? Haters follows Nintendo news more than some fans! I love their dedication! XD

Pocky Lover Boy!

as much as i'd love to see something like this happens (for the lulz), i think is highly unlikely

Its probably going to get a more limited run, but it wont be canceled. It simply dosent make sense

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
