Forums - Nintendo Discussion - If Zelda:BotW delay is going to happen, Wii U version will be cancelled.

Can we get some examples of something like this that happened on a Nintendo console/handheld?

Originally, Super Paper Mario was going to be on the GameCube, but it was quietly moved to the Wii. I don't know if they showed off any gameplay of it as a GC game at the time, though.

Yeah but they also promised it would come out in 2015. Then in 2016...

Yeah, but Nintendo almost always delays their Zelda games because (right or wrong) they hold the belief that it's OK to delay a game to make it better.  That said, Nintendo home consoles have always had mainline Zelda releases and BotW has been getting insane hype since E3 2014.  It's simply a matter of PR for Nintendo to demonstrate to fans that they have kept their promises even though the Wii U has been a complete disaster.  For example, take a look at this video which was released in early 2013.  Nintendo has been actually surprisingly good during the Wii U's lifetime about delivering the games that they have promised (heck we even got games like Yarn Yoshi and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem and everybody back in 2013 thought those games would be vaporware).

Just be patient, I really don't think that Nintendo is going to screw us that badly on this one.

I really hope you're right. I have never wanted to be wrong so much as I do now. As a Wii U owner, the constant fear and uncertainty over whether we'll get it is driving me nuts.

Cancelling the Wii U version would make zero sense, and would seriously hurt Nintendo, even if the Wii U is a dead console.

Ofc this is Nintendo, so I should probably say that cancelling it is a great idea, so that my Nintendo conspiracy theory kicks in.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

No offense, but what good would that do? And since you said that Nintendo lost you as a fan, why do you have the Switch controller, formed as a puppy's face?

I laugh at stupid Switch design.

That's fine then. It's your opinion I guess. But you really have Nintendo on the mind despite saying you're no longer a fan :P.

I will go to Japan and kick Kimishima in the balls if that happens.

i say this as a wii u owner I think they should just kill the wii u version. Nintendo need the switch to be a success so they should make what looks to be there best game in a long time on one machine. It would give the switch a big sales boost and not confuse the marketing message.

Zelda can be delayed only if they don't release it in 2017. because they just said 2017. like release year for Zelda.

Like many others I bought a Wii-U because of this game (and the rather disappointing Xenoblade X) and Nintendo will keep it's promise.
