Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nvidia: Porting PS4, Xbox One, and PC games to Nintendo Switch is simple

I can guarantee you that what you said it's the real problem. I can also guarantee you that the majority of the audience that get Splatoon and 3D Mario at launch will not be very interested in games like Skyrim.

that's always the problem, Nintendo fans are awful when it comes to buy other games. I still hear people that they haven't bought Rayman Legends because it went multiplatform.

Or that they won't buy (insert name of third party game here) because it's not as good as the PS4/one version. But weirdly enough, at the same time, they don't care about the WiiU being underpowered. The logic here baffles me.

I own a WiiU, with games like Black Ops 2, Rayman Legends, GH live, all are awesome.

I dont think people were mad about Rayman going multiplatform, the problem was that it was 100% complete but they delayed it 6 months just so the PS3/360 versions could release alongside it. Even Michel Ancel, the creator of the game, protested Ubisoft's decision to delay the game.

But i dont think Nintendo fans have a problem buying 3rd party games if its something that appeals to them. Japanese, indie & family friendly titles do pretty well on 3DS/Wii U, it just seems to be AAA western titles that struggle.

I think it's a good sign that another huge company apart from Nintendo is actively involved in turning the Switch into a success. Especially when it's one so highly regarded among gamers.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Of Course, but fact is that modern Switch hardware and tech makes things easier compared to Wii or Wii U for instance.

That is simply natural. The question is how far behind you have to drag down a game tech wise untill it starts resembling something entirely else. Case in point, Dead Rising was ported to the Wii and it was pure trash. Hopefully the NS will not plagued by quite as a large power difference.

From what i have read, PS3/360 were like 20x more powerful than Wii while most estimates put XBO/PS4 about 3x more powerful than the rumored Switch specs.

I think the problem isn't porting games to Switch, but the lack of an audience to buy said games

yep, and thats exactly why releasing a XBO/PS4 clone makes little sense for Nintendo.

Wow Nintendo haters really are looking for that tiny straw....

Yes, that is what is happening in this thread. +1 for reading comprehension...

That's a lot of talk from NVIDIA. Porting to other architectures with newer game engines isn't so difficult as it once was period, whether it's x86, POWER, ARM, MIPS, SPARC or something else.

Just wait until HP reinvents HP-PA.

What a bad PR statement from Huang. First he says that the hardware in the Switch has similar features and common architectures with PC and the other consoles, only to later describe all the differences, that are quite a few and bigger than what he makes them look.

Anyway, time will tell.

Makes sense considering that unlike the wiiU, the devs are far more familiar with the hardware that is inside the Switch. Still, the developers will have to put some effort into making sure the ports aren't terrible since the Switch will most likely be weaker than the x1.

One thing I do hope they do is have GeForce Now (Nvidia's game streaming service) on the Switch at launch. If they can do that, people will have access to plenty of games to play even if it is through streaming which might help potential buyers with their decision.

Very, very doubtful.

Do you really think Nintendo will allow anyone else to get money from the uers their consoles? And that's not even thinking how would GeForce Now work when using the Switch as a portable outside of home.

Neh, they could make it work and strike a deal. As far as I am aware, GeForce Now doesn't work on PCs but only their shield devices so there aren't many users using it to begin with. Considering how there are hardly any new games, I think third party devs aren't very keen on developing for it due to the low userbase. So Nvidia basically has this tech which is sitting around and doing virtually nothing like their Tegra SoC. They can try to resolve that issue by giving Nintendo a portion of the money they will get from GeForce Now from Switch users which considering the low-dead install base the GeForce Now platform currently has would be a good reason to.

Allow Switch users to use GeForce Now, give Nintendo a percentage and grow the platform instead of just letting it die. With that being said, I doubt it will happen but I do hope it does because it will help both of them. And it is a streaming service so outside, the Switch would need to connect to a wifi. I don't think its an issue since GeForce Now is avaliable on their tablets and portables and PS Now works with the Vita and there are rumors that it is coming to Android/iOS.

Just like porting a PS4 game to PS Vita is simple, still doesn't make the PS Vita on par with PS4. With that said, I still need to see more of the Nintablet specs.

Agreed.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

So no one is worried about the differences?
x86 -> Arm, AMD -> Nvidia, 176 GB/s memory bandwith -> 50 GB/s, 8gb ram -> 4gb ram, 1.84 Teraflops -> ~0.750 Teraflops.

I think Nvidia are just doing what they normally do.... lots and lots of PR talk and over exaggeration.

Xbox and PS CPU's are the weak part, dread to think what it will be like on a tegra.

Core for core, the A57 CPU is actually faster than the Jaguar.
