I like how they have a fairly long list of awards, but you know half of them will be handed off during a commercial break.
Not even going to bother watching this year. Last year was only entertaining because of Geoff smiting Konami.

That doesnt really explain why it should be nominated above the rest of the nominees. |
Dang, I thought my description painted a good image as to why it should. What more can I say? It's got a creative and visually impressive presentation and is unique from the rest of the nominated games, as well as most games ingeneral. It's paper craft world definitely makes a good fit in the art direction category.
Dance my pretties!

I know Deus Ex got criticized by many for it's unfulfilling narrative, which is bad since narrative is so important in that game, and small size compared to predecessors. And predecessors set expectations, so that doesn't work in its favor.
Dakr Souls 3 I've heard mixed opinions on in terms of comparing it to predecessors, which again isn't good. I'm sure it will get plenty of awards, this is just one award show.
Not going to fight you on Fates since your mind is clearly made up though I disagree and many critics and fans do as well. Trails of Cold Steel I've never heard of so no comment. I will say it might have been here if the Mobile and Handheld categories weren't merged, which they shouldn't be cause those markets and design philosophies are very different.
And Geoff is just the host. He doesn't control the judge pannels choices.
And UE4 got a lot of praise so yeah. Not surprising.

Yeah this really bothers me. Geoff needs to decide whether this is a conference with awards sprinkled in or an awards show with some announcements sprinkled in. Trying to be fully both for all people is just making it worse overall. Also, if he's going to give an award or two off screen, make it the fairly pointless ones like "Games for Impact." Or better yet, get rid of those ones and focus on stuff that matters and encourages the medium to move forward rather than scoring brownie points with people
Meh list, but Overwatch for GOTY!
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Personally I think multi-player only games with no story shouldn't even be nominated for GOTY.

Especially with fee-to-pay elements. There's so many more deserving candidates.

YES. THANK YOU.
Glad to see others who leave them some Owl Boy. I'm about half way and i'm absolutely loving the art style, charm, and characters.

Superb indie game; Gameplay, artstyle, music, characters, everything is just very good, I had a lot of fun with it, so sad to see it being so damn ignored.
