Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Project Scorpio Will be a Success Because Pachter Says Otherwise.

Was the Pachter joke ever funny?

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

It will sell less than the original Xbox 1 for sure, which isn't selling that well except in two countries.

But is it a success or not?

Be careful because your answer could align you with Pachter!

I'd say the X1 damaged the Xbox brand a lot and the userbase has shrunk everywhere, except in places that allowed brexist & Trump to happen.

So yeah, a redeemable failure at this point.

With what we know today there is no way you could predict the Scorpio would be DOA, it is actually the opposite. A lot of people are hyped for it and the console is effectively going to be the most powerful console at this time.

Saying that Third parties will not care and not make use of the power is ridiculous... Why would they not when it is just a matter of balancing the resolution, framerate, effects, textures etc and all development tools they have let them do that already...

DOA ROFL... Keep wishing lol

The ones that are hyped right now are X1 owners. You have to be an Xbox enthusiast to be hyped anyway giving the lack of solid information. Most people can't be hyped without knowning its price for example. I don't care the price but I can't possibly be teased with Phil's half-assed statements that followed an half-assed teaser.

It can be dead on arrival, the PS3 was dead on arrival and it got better with time. A 599$ price tag will kill it until it gets further price reductions.

I wouldn't call that DOA.  More like tripped over its own untied shoelaces already starting the race late.

If the Scorpio realy has Premium performance I don't see a problemas a $500 price.

Ok DOA is a bit of an exaggeration lol.

Who's to say MS is also going to do anything needed to make sure it's a success?  They're hardly doing anything to make the current XB1 a success.  That just makes it sound like they dont care so much about the current XB1s and they're hoping for a mid-gen reboot with the Scorpio.

They are hardly doing anything to make the current X1 a success???????

A) They outspend Playstation on Advertising by almost double each month.

B). Backwards Compat

C) Xbox Slim added 4k Blu-Ray

D) Scrapped Kinect - lowered price

E) Offer better deals almost every week compared to SOny

D) Trying to expand 1st party by buying studios

How can you say they are are "hardly" doing anything. They are doing about as MUCH as they possible can besides giving people X1's for free.

If all it does is make X1 owners jump from their console up to the Scorpio then the playerbase is not going to increase, will just be the same size playing games on the system and by that stage it will definitely be playing second fiddle in terms of what devs and publishers are going to invest in that group of gamers compared to the system with more players, I mean Battlefield 1 churned out almost double the sales on the PS4 than on the X1, it has to effect developers with how much attention they give to platform when sales are how they are.

Unless MS can start to offer more mainstream games making use of cross platform multiplayer for their games... but even then with CoD on the PC users who had bought the Windows Store version of the game found that they were even cut off from other players on the PC never mind consoles.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

May buy one, however, MS's biggest problem is variety, if they don't expand on games/genres, who really cares how powerful it is. Unless MS is happy with just the current user base.

I hope the thing costs $500-600 and I hope the hardware justifies it. Looking for a nice beefy upgrade as opposed to the Pro.

It will be interesting to see what they put inside and what they price it at.

The biggest thing is the year gap, price point uncertainity going against the console and the probability of Sony's new console announcement. The Xbox original was ahead of PS2 in every segment of hardware features and yet its one year delay relative to widely successful PS2. resulted in a rocky start.

Right now the Play Station Four Pro is at 399$ USD and it is a 4.2tf machine.
I do not see why the Scorpio, in one year from now would be around that.
