When you look deep into it Pokemon isn't so fluffy. Remember what Team Flare wanted to do with that ancient superweapon?

I'm not saying it hasn't progressed some, but not nearly enough to keep the attention span of people who have moved on to "literally" mature games, yet still miss the days of Pokemon Red/Blue (which, by the way, at the time, felt VERY serious and not fluffy at all).

Kind of makes you wonder what'd happen if they did that from the beginning. Maybe we'd learn where Red/Ash's father went, or more about the Kanto Gym Leaders.

I think sun and moon is doing decent as of now. still in the beginning, but I think they'll slowly return to a better story.

 

I think XY had a lot of potential though. AZ could've been focused on more to make XY have a much better story
