You seemed pretty interested in having a lynch toDay earlier. What changed?

I guess I changed. Playing a bunch of games, and seeing how easily mafia can feign innocence, it changed my views and tactics. Lynching Day1 is pretty much a shot in the dark, since we have no hard evidence of anything.

There were so many games lost because a townie seemed scummy, and mafia seemed towny. A part of it is the mixed experience levels, so now I try to put less emphasis on their posting habits. Some townies will lurk, and some maf will post a lot. That's where power roles come in, but of course townies need to remain vigilant. In contrast, it's a mafioso's job to confuse and trick town into believing them, using fake claims and such.

I'd enjoy a discussion, though. What are you guys' toughts?

It's hard to imagine that all of the games you played elsewhere during this game had nearly as much discussion Day 1. Yes, it's still mostly guesswork right now, but it's hardly just rolling the dice.

Trucks already said reveal will come at the end of Day 1. Trucks will also most likely count No Lynch votes.

Maybe I'm just imagining things, but I just feel like this mrp lynch is just too convenient.

I'd rather lynch someone like clyde or noctis. The group thinks mr.p is well deserving of a lynch for a bunch of things he's said. I think he's just a noob and made some mistakes. He seems genuine.

I think the guys hanging out on the sidelines are worth a vote. If you look at their posts, there's a vacuum. You won't find anything. Meanwhile, I think everyone here has said at least a couple of suspicious things. We could really build a case against anyone.

Maybe it's better to just take a shot into the vacuum.

Of these two I'd rather lynch Clyde than Noctis. Noctis hasn't said much, but most of his posts have had some substance to them, while Clyde has the least content in my eyes.

I'd even say Clyde is a better second lynch option than Stefl.(especially considering everyone basically bailed on him)

Oh and at this point I'm pretty sure Darwin is scum.(Though possibly still the town role I had him pegged as)

yay! Linkz finally on board the darwin train. You'll have to point out what you saw later, I can't think of anything.

And clyde too!? Is it my birthday? Oh and you think stefl. Well, hootananny and a holler, I like this post a lot.

One thing I will say about you linkz, I'm actually a bit concerned that you're agreeing with my views so much. Either I somehow bumbled my way into the same reads, or I'm completely wrong and you're leading me down a dark path. Normally I'd say we conflict on a lot of suspects. But, this is nice.

Although, I strongly disagree about mrp. You say he's playing as if he doesn't have that role. Was it you who said earlier that they believe the role, just not the alignment? Either way, I think he's playing expectedly how he would if he had the role. He was scared of being lynched, so threw it out there. He responded with sarcasm to almost every accusation, it seems fitting for him to also throw his role in their face, imagining that it would save him. I think, not to be full of myself, but I think he's mimicking what I did last game when I claimed the doc role. I see a possibility existing wherein he imagined it would make everyone look stupid. It kinda follows his behavioral state.

Additionally, he picked my suspects, so I like that about him.

I've been told I'm very good at writing so much yet saying so little. To be honest though my weekend has been all-out studying for a test I have tomorrow. So while I have been reading everything, I haven't had the chance to think about a response. I'm currently in a state of just being done studying even though I don't feel ready, so do anything you want while I'm here and I'll respond accordingly.

I don't think it's that much better.

I hesitate to call it actual discussion, anyway. Day1 posts, by nature, are mostly based on small hints, vibes, and activity levels. Those aren't accurate enough for me to feel comfortable lynching one person over another.

I feel like anyone attempting to make a case for someone's lynch is simply comparing him/her to how they think a good townie should act. In reality, some people would often lurk as town (even PRs), and mafia would often be active and play the part (even seemingly helping to scumhunt). What then?

I believe the whole point of a mixed Vanilla/Power Role game is for the vanillas to take the heat and go ham, while the PRs lay low until they have sufficient info.

Wouldn't that give them away?

Anway, that wasn't the issue I was arguing, but rather: who to lynch? Can we make good choices based on 'discussion' alone? ...Who would you lynch? Are you confident in your choice?

And if we all hit No Lynch right away on Day 1 and we do Night 1 and start Day 2 (like those other games you mention), what more information do we really have as average townies?  If there's a cop, he's investigated someone but he's not going to claim unless he hit jackpot pased on pure luck (not even Day 1 posts to go by).  Someone is dead, but other than the investigatory role(s) (if any), we wouldn't really be any better off than we are now.  So the difference is that one townie has extra info and one townie is dead.

It's obviously true that Day 1 is the worst day as far as informed lynch decisions, but I think that we need robust discussion anyway, and it helps to have a realistic prospect of a lynch actually occurring to drive discussion.  Maybe we shouldn't go for a second person when we've already sort of gotten someone toDay, even though it wasn't a regular lynch.  But I feel very strongly against what you're saying about Day 1 being basically a waste of time.

If you want a No Lynch in this specific game and situation, that's fine; but if you want No Lunch because that's your reflexive decision on Day 1 all the time, I really disagree.

I used to think the best thing to do on Day 1 was a strong discussion always followed by No Lynch, but (1) there is much less incentive for it; and (2) sometimes you hit a strong enough lead that a lynch becomes justified.

Honestly, the main reason to eliminate Day 1 IMO would be to speed up the game. Days seem to get shorter as a general rule as the game moves along, not only because of fewer people but also because people get more focused on and familiar with the situation. This extends backwards to Day 1 being a slow-moving (on average), confused mess. But it still can have valuable results, especially in hindsight.

In theory, Day 2 of a game with a Day 1 should be better than the first day of a game that started at Night, because the town has already gotten going.
