Xbox one had a great run.
Now see the difference destroyed in 1 month.

lol I wouldn't say destroy.. I wouldn't be surprise if it's actually closer than you think in November .. this past October PS4 got pretty much destroyed by x1

Destroyed  by 94k? whahaha 😂.

Okej.

Xbox one  is being  massacred  since  2013 ww xd

Some NPD insider on Gaf said that the total digital ratio for home console is around 30% and it is higher for "play four days earlier" games. Unfortunately Microsoft doesn't share digital data for us to know the effect of play anywhere titles.

Knowing that play earlier games have more than 30% digital ratio, Microsoft titles could have a digital ratio between 40% and 50%.

How is that digital ratio calculated? From retail games only, or everything digital?
I think if digital sales were nearing 50% we would have heard about it already.

I don't know but my guess is for the companies who provided digital sales data, the average ratio is ~30%.

The PS4 outsold the Xbox One by 110-140k in January's NPD. The Pro is eating some sales of the original PS4, after November we will see a gap bigger than 300k  for the PS4.

So, now the Xbox One outsold the PS4 by 10, 40-50, 100-120, 90 = 240-270k in 4 months and with a new hardware release.

Anything under 100k isn't destroyed. Especially consisidering PS4 has many NPD wins with much larger gaps.

Let's think of it this way. The XB1 had the Gears LE bundle, Gears 1TB bundle, and the Battlefield 1 bundles. The Gears LE bundle was announced way back in July, the Gears 1TB bundle was announced at the end of September, and the Battlefield bundles were announced mid-September. I think it is reasonable to say that preorders of all these bundles played a role in the 94K gap. The PS4's offerings looked stale compared to the XB1 bundles since it didn't have any new bundles for that month. Plus, a lot of consumers were holding off for the Pro.

Gotta give Microsoft some credit though. They know when to strategically release their bundles for good effect.

  • Mafia III sold 503K at Oct 2016 NPD USA Retail Software (310K on PS4 and 193K on XBO). +122% higher than Mafia II's 2010 debut (227K)
  • Gears of War 4 sold ~415K excluding bundles and 505K including bundles at October 2016 NPD USA Retail Software
  • Gears of War 4 launch sales of 505K are lower than GOW Judgment's ~620K 2013 NPD debut (-19%), but digital sales are much higher now. But even with digital, compared to GOW3 launch sales (more than 2 mill.), this is still a fundamentally disappointing sales result for Microsoft
  • Uncharted 4 had the #1 selling bundle at Oct 2016 NPD USA Retail, selling 17% of all HW units (~130K), ~40K more than the GOW4 bundle
  • Typically at NPD 1st-party games don't have good legs. Uncharted 4 is being kept alive at retail only because of the PS4 Slim bundles
  • Bethesda's Skyrim Special Edition (Remastered) release sold ~400K at October 2016 NPD USA Retail Software, a fantastic result for a remaster
  • Square Enix's Rise of the Tomb Raider wasn't so lucky. PS4 release was this month at Oct 2016 NPD USA Retail SW, and ROTR only sold ~120K
  • The toys-to-life genre has finally collapsed at Oct 2016 NPD USA Retail SW. The new Skylanders sold a tiny 66K, or -41%
  • Titanfall 2 was a big failure at Oct 2016 NPD USA Retail Software, selling a mere 182K, or -79% from Titanfall 1's March 2014 debut (865K)

Sad month for Gears, I expected something closer to 1 million. But  the Xbox One had a better gap than I expected.

Titanfall 2 selling less than a niche game despite the stated 10+ millions of players that the last game had.

I hope that November will be better for software sales.

Does the Pro have any BF deals anywhere? Just curious.
