Forums - Gaming Discussion - Has anyone played Baten Kaitos: Origins for the Gamecube?

Is this game any good, I'm checking some gameplay videos out now. It looks pretty good but the battle system is scary me a little.

I'm not to good with the card battle system, I like a traditional battle system.

Does anyone feel the same way or is there a way to play around this battle system?

But the card battle system is suspect.

The only game where I played using a card battle system was Kingdom Hearts: Chains of Memories for the GBA.

Now that game was awesome and used the card battle system good, is this card battle system similar to Kingdom Hearst: Chains of Memories?

The battle system isn't that bad though it does take some getting used to. Randomness can be frustrating at times as well.

Some of the characters are annoying and the game seems pretty linear. I haven't actually gotten around to finishing it because other (better) titles appear that I'd rather play.

It gets a 3 out of 5 on my WoW game rating scale.

I have, I thought it was quite good. Not perfect but very enjoyable.

Alright I will give this game a spin, I just bought a Nintendo Gamecube the other day for $30 at Gamestop.

That was a steal automatically...lol

So now that I have that console and awaiting a Wii, I will just play all those Gamecube games I didn't get a chance to play, play those now and enjoy the Cube for once...lol

i've played the orginal one, but not origins. i'm guessing the battle system is similar because the st installment had cad battle as well. it took a little while to get used to and as i was finishing the game i still didn't understand some of the combos. but you get used to it and soriku's right, it does become more fun.

if i could get a copy i would buy it

It's different. The characters all use the same deck in Origins instead of separate ones per character.

That's why Origins is kind of frustrating.  You could have an entire hand for Milly when Sagi's turn comes up so you either discard them to (hopefully) get cards for Sagi or skip Sagi and go on to Milly.

okay that does sound fusrtrating. what about the level up feature, have they changed that because in the first that was annoying as well. going to the alter to level up seemed like a silly idea to me

Hell yeah. I have it. Beating it 100% right now. BUY IT. I'd give it a mid 9.

I never played Baten Kaitos but are you sure a mid 9 is not a bit much. I mean I am sure it is a decent game but it does have flaws from what I read from reviews. Then again, you are entitled to your own opinion

That's fixed. You no longer have to do anything special to level up. It just happpens.
