I think that's still coming tbh, just not this year and especially not on the Wii U. Liam Robertson said this a while back:

Also, we aren't talking about a new game but rather an eShop/Virtua Console game. What does Nintendo gain from not launching it on Wii U but the Switch?

Yeah, it's why I'm not really defending her, she was wrong about it after all. I know it's a Virtual Console game and all, but at this point if they do release this game it's probably gonna be on the Switch just because the Wii U is pretty much dead. I can't really imagine some sort of Wii U direct happening anymore. Anyways, Mother 3 is one of those games that people have been expecting for a long time now, so even though it's old, I think they should make it exclusive to the Switch as there's probably a good amount of people who would buy one just for that.

Of course that's just my speculation, it could still come out on Wii U, Switch, or both (Or maybe not release at all, lol). You can't predict Nintendo, so who knows what they'll end up doing.

The problem of that theory is that Nintendo did launch Mother 3 on the Wii U's Virtua Console, but only in Japan.

Nintendo simply doesn't want to spend extra money on the localisation of the game.

As annoying it can be to have multiple thread about the same person/game/console (I've had my fair share in moaning about this issue) I don't like mega threads. Just let the people make threads and if nobody is interested in it then nobody will post and then it will die. If people are interested in it then it will be kept alive with posts and therefore justify the need for its own thread.

That said jason has put together a good thread.
