so is the tomb raider vr game not the actually proper game just a segment or something?

It's separate DLC, Blood ties, included with the ps4 version. You explore Croft manor and get to know more about Lara's past (if you have the patience to listen journal entries) There doesn't seem anything else to do but walk around to find the next 'key' to access more areas with more documents to read.

I need to stop spending money, oh well what's $20 more on already out of control credit card bill.

It's awesome! It looks really good on PSVR. There is some slight aliasing with ramps on the far side depending on the angle and distance you look at, yet everything is clearly visible. It's very cool you can look at the tables from any angle, it didn't take long until I had my head in the middle of the table inspecting all the intricate details up close. Playing pinball from that angle is something you have to try lol. Might give you whiplash trying to follow the ball ;)

The biggest advantage is no lag, it feels extrememly responsive. From a more normal angle I was saving a lot more balls and aiming a lot better than on regular tv. One downside, from that more traditional angle you're always looking down, will get uncomfortabble after a while with the headset on. You can also calibrate the view while standing, then sit down to get a lower angled view so you don't have to tilt your head.

The price is a bit steep imo. CAD $20 for 3 tables. The tables are decent, yet detail and options are far superior in The Pinball Arcade on the ps3. Perhaps there are still plenty secrets to be found, but for example the free Aladdin table in The Pinball Arcade had a whole story you play through. I didn't get that impression from these 3 tables. The tables also don't feature their own music, big miss. Black Hole's music and sound effects are instantly recognizable and turn the more basic older table into a great experience.

Perhaps the walking dead table will have those 'feels'. I'll try it later, another $8. I need an intervention...

I was too quick in my judgement of the tables. Secrets of the deep and Epic quest are great and do have their own music. I played the Mars themed one before and only took a quick look at the others. The Mars one is the weakest of the bunch, the other 2 are  much better. 3 ball multi ball is even crazier in VR, dunno where to look lol.

The tables do have different objectives, maybe not as elaborate as Aladdin but I haven't discovered everything yet by far.  The walking dead table is awesome. It looks amazing when the table goes dark with all the lights flashing. TWD also has the best sound effects and music of the bunch. PSVR is awesome for pinball. The oled screen really makes all the electronic lights glow. Lighting and shadows look great accross all the tables.

Just a few minor criticisms, you can only place 3 tables in the room at any time and the default slot epic quest is in is too close to the trigger for scoreboards. When you look at the ball when launching it while seated, you end up exiting the table doh. (You can quit and resume later at any time, mid flight) And even though I was playing while sitting, I need a break now cause my neck is starting to hurt.... You're still sitting forward leaning over the table. It's very addictive, time flies.

thankyou!!! glad it was fun

Holoball is out. Played it again today, doesn't work very well and it's too dangerous. I put a dent in my ceiling jumping to catch a ball. I could have hit my projector if the ball had been more to the right...

Apart from needing too much space, the tracking has issues too. At first I though I just had to 'git gud' yet now and then after a few fast hits the angle of the move in game doesn't match the angle you're holding it at anymore, with the at bat seemingly broken, sticking out at a 30 degree angle. It fixes itself after you shake the controller, however point already lost.
Sometimes the ball also goes straight through the bat. Even on serve, no way I completely miss a stationary ball. Also often the ball goes in a different direction than expected, straight up, or 90 degrees left/right, bad physics or bad tracking dunno. Sports champions table tennis worked much better.
Another problem is the fov. In real life and while playing move games on tv, you can always see the bat in your peripheral vision while keeping you eyes on the ball. With the headset on, you can only see it if you hold it within the narrow fov cone, made worse by wearing glasses. (Headset doesn't sit as close, smaller fov)

The game is fun to try, works if played not too fast. But when you start getting competitive it breaks down. Plus taking the headset off afterwards with the head strap all wet, as well as the nose flaps, nope not for me. No more active games with headset on.

For anyone that has Eagle Flight, I hear there is a black-ed out area like when you turn or go fast or something, to help with motion sickness.  I can't stand that, I turned it off in Rigs (I think Where They Lie had it too and I was able to turn it off).  Are you able to turn it off in Eagle Flight?

I haven't found it in the options. It's far less intrusive than in Here they lie, it was ridiculous there and was glad you can turn it off. (Actually the best way to play Here they lie is standing, never using the analog stick at all, without vr turning, so you can simply physically turn the way you want to go)

Eagle flight does narrow the fv in sharp turns. Here's how much

Compared to Here they lie

Nothing like that luckily.

I've been noticing another interesting side effect from VR. It has been cloudy and pretty dark here for days. While racing in sunny environments, the headset seems to trick my brain into believing it's sunny outside. It's actually lifting my mood. Bit of a downer though to take it off and return to gloomy drizzle world.

And I finished TR Blood ties. It's pretty short yet there was a bit more to it than I expected. It looks good and at least allows you to move around however you want. Bring on Resident Evil.

I'm glad your opinion kinda changed on the TR Blood Ties content. So far, it's just slow expiration (I'm in the wine cellar) but production values are high. Some of the best VR environments I've seen outside of Arkham VR. It really did a good job of immersing me in the world.

I think I'll be buying Eagle Flight, soon. I feel like I have to!
