Forums - General Discussion - NexGenWars Explains their numbers!!

http://nexgenwars.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4140

"We use MS SHIPPED as official numbers because MS SHIPPED is shipped to retailers. Retailers dont order unless they are going to sell them. Saying 10.6M because thats what they claimed back at the end of January is pretty damn close. Closer then the estimate added on to Media Create and NPD numbers. "

For Sony they use NPD and Media Create and they use Shipped for Wii.

I dont get why people would use shipped though. Thats about 1 million off of whats sold which is a lot when compairing the consoles to which sold more.

Unless they changed their ways from the last time you checked the site, and assuming they are telling the truth about how they get their information, the numbers aren't very far off.

The logic is there since nearly every 360 tends to end up sold, the number shipped gives a close estimate to the real numbers.

They also update the numbers every-so-often te keep the numbers from getting to far off.

We can't use fuck or bitch on the site? Why would a mod go around editing curse words on posts. Just leave them as they are. If you want to say fuck, feel free to. FUCK.

For god sake the site has an auto-updater, if you sit there and watch it long enough the numbers update on their own by ones, twos and threes. How fucking acurate is that?

The problem isn't really the auto-updater, the problem is that the sales figures are not accurate enough because they used amount sold to retailers NOT amount sold to customers and large discrepancies arise when there's a large amount of consoles left unsold (That's why they're 360 figures are too high). If you look at world population counters, they almost alway have auto-update counter's but are fairly accurate because they use appropriate criteria to reach the numbers that are being updated.

All you @#$% $#@%#$ had better start #$*)#@ or them *#$&@( mods will @&*$ you up more than a #@!@@ #*$%@( on #@#*&@ @!!)@#!

I know; I've watched it.  The numbers aren't accurate; and neither are VG or NPD.

I think the whole idea of it is to give you a fair estimate of what to expect,  then you can go to something like VG or NPD later in the week to get a more accurate #; or at least thats what I get out of it.
