Switch is Unlike the Vita & Much better

Re-Launch the Vita 31 17.22%

Let the Vita die already 126 70.00%

Vita vs Switch Holiday 2017 battle 23 12.78%

Total:180

After watching the newly released video for the nintendo Switch, I could not help but think of the Playstation Vita comparisons.

Is the Switch biting off a big chunk of the Vita capabalities ?

Mobile gaming straight rom the TV straight to the Handheld  device ? Huum.

The switch controllers are very unique though. The snap in and out funtion is hella cool. But as always, It remains to be seen how it fits in your hands.

There also showed allot of multi-player stuff. That was also a very cool funtion. Looks like the mario kart guys are in for a treat.

All in all I think that the Switch reveal was very well put together. My question is though, now that the Switch has been revealed, what does Sony now do about the Vita ? If Nintendo is again making a push to revitalize handheld gaming, does Sony Let the Vita stay on its current path ( Indie Machine/ Remote Ps4 Player) or as some have said before, lit it off die, or see this a san opportunity to Re-Launch the Vita ?

Look I will say it again. Vita did not originate the idea. NEC did with TurboExpress. SEGA was second with SEGA Nomad these were both Console/Handheld Hybrids and Nomad could hook up to the TV. Sony tried but it was clunky. Switch is the first time I have seen the idea done well. The tech is viable and will probably have a decent price. I LOVE my Vita so not hating on anything. Switch has yes killed Vita in Japan,no doubting that. Sony does nothing but kill it December 2017 or early 2018. Vita still has momentum in Japan and that will carry it a little longer.

Sony should be more worried about PS4 in Japan. Think about this. Switch will likely have Dragon Quest,Monster Hunter,Yokai Watch,Pokemon and Shin Megami Tensei series plus possibly Dynasty Warriors if Nobunga is already coming to it. Switch will likely dominate Japan with PS4 in a distant 2nd.

The one advantage that the 3ds had was its exclusives. Not only did you have first party exclusives, but they also had big third party system sellers such as MH and YW. So I don't think Sony will re-launch it.

The advantage of the switch is that it is
a) Generations ahead in terms of performance compared to the 3ds and vita
b) Will most likely not use nonsense overpriced storage solutions
c) It can be both a handheld and a console where as with the Vita, as far as I know, you have to buy a Vita and a Vita TV. And then you have to switch between the two and you also need a DS controller for the Vita TV.
d) NS will most likely continue to have big handheld third party exclusives like MH and YW while having the Nintendo exclusives.

Just like the wii u, the vita has no chance. switch vs vita? pokemon, mario and zelda vs ??????

The only thing that will keep Vita getting releases in Japan now is if the sales hold up enough that Vita for Japan ps4 for West continues. Realistically switch is it's final nail in the coffin.

Vita is not Switch's competition though. And that could well be a much tougher still for Nintendo. Portable specs and home console pricing is the catch they need to watch out for.

That said for me switch could be perfect if they manage to get the western 3rd party titles.

Still waiting for a (decent) portable DIRT Rally and GRID :/

This... Vita is Still alive just because jrpgs in Japan... Outside there is already dead. I have mine, but even tho I try to keep using it, gets me borde fast. There are very few good games, and the good ones are already on ps3 or 4, so no real battle here.

Lots and lots of (j)rpgs :p

But yeah Switch is gonna outsell the Vita my millions and millions.

A thing that has always bothered me is how little multiplats there are between 3DS and Vita. The 3DS userbase should be big enough to attract those niche JRPGs that thrive on the Vita, but for the most part it didn't. What is the reason they came to the Vita and not the 3DS? Safer userbase, more power, PS+ incentives...? I feel we might need to solve this to help the Switch get this support.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
