What is the future of the digital aimed My Nintendo?

My Nintendo will stay the same! 6 50.00%

My Nintendo will be physical focused! 3 25.00%

My Nintendo will change [fill in blank] 3 25.00%

As many have noticed My Nintendo is clearly for digital buyers. The only option to add a physical code in tucked away behind a menu at the top. I presumed in the past this was simply for Hardware since it would not be needed that much.

But with the Switch, this becomes rather odd because most users will simply not be in a position to be all digital even if they would like to choose it.

This is very strange. Nintendo knew the NS was coming so why did they build it this way. Many took it as a sign that the coming NS could even be full digital. As did I. But this is confirmed not to be the case.

This leaves maybe just two possibilities:

  • My Nintendo becomes some niche app for a select number of digital users
  • My Nintendo will change to suit the new physical NS model

Do you think My Nintendo will change?

If so, how?

MyNintendo can't stay as it is. It's too lacking in things like discounts and free games. If they are going to abandon the physical rewards, they have to offer way more variety in the discounts and free stuff.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I just went on My Nintendo yesterday to find that even the few digital games that could be redeemed previously have now been removed. Basically, Nintendo is asking people to spend big money digitally to get discounts that bring some of their purchases down to the sale prices retailers are already offering.

I'm thinking that like with Miitomo Switch games will have missions. If not, R.I.P. MyNintendo.

Like it isnt already??

Theres almost nothing of worth worth there. The only decent thing you will find is discounts on digital only games. Because any game I can get physically i can get cheaper in stores than buying digitally with the My Nintendo discount.

In the past you used to get a piece of paper that had a code on it in physical games which you could input on Club Nintendo to get coins.  Now the codes are gone from physical games which I assume now only hardware might include a code.  Basically, they fucked over physical game buyers.

I made a My Nintendo sucks thread awhile back and I am sticking to it.  They seriously fucked up the rewards program.  Thanks for adding digital games to generate coins but fuck you Nintendo for removing physical game codes.  I'm going to send them a hate mail this weekend over My Nintendo.  Maybe eventually they will listen to their fans and realize they fucked up.

I suppose for those who like physical. I'm all digital mostly so i got some use of it. If i had been a new buyer of Nintendo hardware, i would have gotten a lot of discounts on good games. But most i already owned :(.

Yeah, the choice of digital didn't bother me before, because i was all digital. But it's very strange on how they set up My Nintendo. Announce it in one way for like a part of a year and then perhaps retool it in the reverse later on.

On 12/01/2016 Nintendo will have to clarify on how to proceed with My Nintendo. It was apparently created for the coming NS in some way.

I will expect a change up of the site in the minimum. Like a enter code field on the homepage at least and some more rewards linked to the NS. Perhaps discounts on App or so, if it's running Android.

Personally I think they should just burn it to the ground and reboot Club Nintendo. I suppose I'm some old timer but perhaps a least drastic way??? Make it more like Club Nintendo.
