Forums - Gaming Discussion - So how is Capcom's finantial situation exactly?

Capcom had a lot of finantial problems around the end of the 7th gen, with some rumours even reporting the possibility of a buyout. After a couple of years of 8th gen, Capcom doesn't seem that much different. Outside of the milking of the Monster Hunter franchise (which is probably its main source of income right now), Capcom has not had any major success to change that situation. Even Street Fighter V was a very underperforming game. How exactly are now finantially speaking? Do they get profits or losses, and how important those profits and losses?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Did they do anything else other than MH, SFV and RE7 ? if the answer is no then I'm positive they are getting back on track

Mega Man Legacy, Phoenix Wright and that RE shooter game at least.

I just got a shot from their financial department! Looks ok to me!

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

They still have lot of their japanese nazi gold stocks!

Probably not good, but with enough profitable IPs to stay afloat without strong issues.

Well the first two certainly sold decenly, the Umbrella thing game instead might have lost them a few milions but still they should close the financial year in positive given the release of MHXX

The resident evil remastered have both sold a million + confirmed by them

They're probably a lot better now days with MH flying and Sony funding SFV, a lot of the problems in gen 7 were due to the costs in development as a result of the jump to HD.

Didn't Dead Rising 3 do okay on the X1? And I'm sure the remasters of DmC and DMC4 brought in decent change.

The question it comes down to is how much SFV cost, how much it made, how much it continues to make via tournaments, licensing clothing etc and microtransactions as well as their season pass.

I'm hoping Capcom will be able to fond their roots and bring back a lot of IPs that are lying dormant. A new DMC, Onimusha and others as well as a a reinvention of Deep Down. I can't see DD doing well as a F2P title but I can see it doing well as a Destiny style of game.
