Forums - Gaming Discussion - New Wii game from Ubisoft - My Word Coach

http://wii.ign.com/articles/790/790490p1.html

"My Word Coach for both handheld and console could be described as Brain Age with words, but that would only be half true. The games do challenge players to correctly spell words, yes, and yet where Brain Age stops at the testing phase, My Word Coach continues onward, striving to both test and ultimately teach users. We've been digging into both iterations of the effort for the last week and we can confidently state that these titles are absolutely worthy of your attention. We're going to detail why, but first humor us as we go over the basics."

Um, okay. I don't see how they can take this idea and get people to pay $50 for it.

Maybe it'll be a budget title like Kororinpa.  Games like Brain Age are similar in concept, and people are eating them up.

Interesting, I was wondering when a spelling/grammar game would come out...

Sounds like a Western-made game that could do well in Japan, especially on DS.  I wonder how older Wii adopters will treat it...

Here come the Brain Age clones. Next up: Wii Sports clones. Welcome to the future, where people don't like games like Zelda.

Glad to finally see Ubisoft show off some more REAL Wii support. As in, ground-up exclusives. Now finally RRR2 is announced, and this Word Coach game could be a hit too... And obviously it will be a series, with other "coach" games... It will hopefully be a $30 Wii game/$20 DS game. I can't see them charging full price for a game like this...

"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Zelda still sold pretty well. TP combined sales handily beat both Majora and Wind Waker. And traditional games like Mario and Pokemon are selling better on DS than they have since 1996-98. So its not like the appeal of traditional games went down, its just that there are other game concepts out there either with higher appeal, or which hit underserved markets where they is a vacuum of good titles.

Ignore him, had this been a PS3 game he would be claiming this as the 'Brain Age Killer' that would move more units than any game on the Wii ...
