Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Prediction: Nintendo to change their YouTube policies by the time the Switch is released

Look at Kimishima. Does that look like the face of a progressive man? Nintendo is the company that thinks that making a tablet is so progressive that they hid it for years from MS and Sony.... because they thought that they would copy it. Just stew on that for a second..... thought they would steal the idea... of a tablet.

Where in any of this do you think that they will suddenly become more progressive?

How will they be changed though? If you believe they will drop their policies altogether, I doubt they'll do that. They'll probably keep it as it is. Though I think it would be good if they did just let people make videos on their products without needing to be a partner of Ninten.

If their current policies are making them money, I have my doubts.

Nintendo is an extremely conservative company (mostly due to being based in kyoto, where a 100 years old company is considered young) so I doubt that, even though it would be a smart move.

I hope so... I dont understand their negative views towards shareing media of gameplay.

Lets play's dont mean lost sales, they mean free marketing.
Its very common that I go look at a lets play for a game I plan on buying.
I want to see what actual gameplay is like, and sometimes trailers just dont do a good enough job of it.

Let's plays can mean both: just as you use them to plan out your purchasing habits, there are some who use let's plays so that they don't have to buy a game. They can just enjoy someone else's play of a game's campaign for example. This is especially true for games that are very story-oriented.

I think they'll make their partner program more open and generous. But not much more than that. I think Nintendo is likely quite pleased with Youtube's changes to content monetization policies.

I expect change - but not drastic enough to see someone like AngryJoe take on the platform again.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Everyone knows Nintendo is known for its heavy story based games right? (im just haveing a hard time nameing any, right now)

It makes no sense.

Look at something like The last of us, or Uncharted.

Id consider both kinda story heavy.... did "lets play's" kill their sales?

The policies will be changed when Half-Life 3 comes out.

Nah - I think it'll be changed when Final Fantasy Versus XIII actually comes out on the PS3 like promised!

Or maybe when Banjo Threeie comes out for the gameCube? Who knows at this point!

I certainly hope so.
