Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What 5 games does Nintendo need to show to WOW people at the Nintendo Switch Event? (First and Third party games)

1. Retro's Studio IP - Emily Rogers said she heard that Retro Studios isn't working on either Metriod or Donkey Kong but a new IP (which could also be an IP they just never worked on). Showing off a brand new IP amied at the core gamers will be what a lot of people want.

2. Square Enix: Final Fantasy VI Remake announced alongside Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3. As well as confirming full Square Enix support.

3. From Software X Nintendo - A brand new IP, Maybe Nintendo's Dark Soul coming exclusivley to Nintendo Switch will excite a lot of people.

4. Take Two/Rockstar, confirming Red Dead Redepmention 2 on Switch would be huge and show people that Nntendo can get the big new third party games

5. Bethesida coming on stage confirming full support (Actual support, not EA E3 2011 support).

What about you guys? Please leave it releastic enough too so no Half Life 3 Nintendo Switch exclusive or stuff like that.

It has to be new IPs or third-party games if they want this console to be a success. Nintendo's usual suspects are not going to get the job done.

A new IP from FROM would be huge.

I think it would also be effective they could convince someone like Sega or Capcom to revive classic IP. Onimusha as a Nintendo exclusive, for example.

If they announce Fallout 4 GOTY for Switch then we'll know it's for real.

They need something from Ubisoft besides Just Dance.

1. Kingdom Hearts 3 and/or FFVII Remake and/or Bravely Third- They need to show that at the very least they strong third party support from Japanese companies. This could be in the form of ports, or exclusives. Even better if it's both.

2. New Mario- They already showed this, but it has to be awesome. I wasn't blown away by what we saw at the trailer, but of course that was only a few seconds. The new game has to be something really revolutionary for the series. Something that people HAVE to play.

3. Beyond Good and Evil 2/Bayonetta 3- Nintendo started a good trend with Wii U and 3DS by helping to publish third party exclusives. Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, Bravely Default (in the US at least), Bayonetta 2, and Wonderful 101. They need to keep this over.

4. Mario Kart not 8- Mario Kart and Smash have the potential to be the real showcase games for this system. These are games with broad appeal, and the ability to have a multiplayer game on the fly could be a huge selling point. A new Smash game is very unlikely (although a port is very likely) but the timing is right for a completely new Mario Kart.

5. Brain Age x Wii Fit- I think it would be interesting if some games had a different component to them whether you were playing them portable or docked. To this end, I think a Brain Age/Wii Fit crossover would be interesting. The concept could be to keep both your brain and body in shape. When docked, the playable games focus on fitness with the balance board, and when portable, it focuses on the brain age aspect. Could be an interesting way to show off the system while reviving two ailing franchises.

It's going to hopefully be Retro's new IP and the Beyond Good and Evil reboot. Those will be the big ones.

I know that it's obviously going to be Mario as well, but Nintendo needs at least two western-style exclusive games to change the identity of their brand for the Switch. The Switch clearly marketed to a mainstream audience with the teaser trailer. Now they need to do the same with software, and that needs to be spearheaded by a Nintendo made new IP. And honestly, they need more exclusives than that, but the point is that they need to be for that mainstream audience. A new FROM IP like what pokoko suggested would be awesome even though its Japanese, but I don't see that happening. Exclusives like that are what Nintendo wants, though.

Something else they need (obviously) are ports of multiplats releasing in 2017. It's fine if they are missing some in the first year, but if the impression people get after this event is that they'll be missing out on too much by buying Switch, that's not a good place to be. Of all Nintendo consoles, this is the one that truly needs to get third parties on board, because this is the one with the most valuable hardware angle to make them buy those games on their system instead of the competition's.

I think most of what they announce will be what they will release during the NS's launch period before E3. In fact, I don't expect them to announce any real surprises since E3 will be just around the corner in 3 months or so. I don't even think they'll go into any real detail about the next 3D Mario or anything else they hinted at during the teaser reveal. Now, while I think the reveal event will be light on surprises, I believe that Nintendo's 2017 E3 will be one of the most jam-packed events they'll ever do.

As for what they'll reveal, I think BotW, a lesser IP like F-Zero and a proof-of-concept title like Wii Sports/Nintendoland along with some Wii U ports like Smash 4, MK8, Mario Maker and Splatoon will be what they give out from a 1st party perspective. A couple of significant 3rd party ports like Skyrim Remastered, Mass Effect, CoD, Overwatch and hopefully FFXV along with some yearly sports titles should be enough to give the NS a solid launch window lineup until E3. What I really hope happens is that Rockstar announces that RDR2 will come to the NS because that would do a lot to convince gamers that the NS will be getting legit 3rd party support.

An easy way to wow the crowd, at least the Western crowd, is by having big mainline 3rd party games from EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda, Rockstar, etc.

Other then the possible Switch versions of For Honor and South Park, Beyond Good and Evil 2.

I would argue it will take more than 5 games to wow people.

1. A game with very high production values in the veins of Uncharted or God of War.

2. A Souls-like game.

3. A busy, dense open world game.

4. A multiplayer FPS in a unique world.

5. An arcade racer that takes place in the real world in different locations.

All new IPs.

They basically need a fallout 4 port, BTOW, 3D Mario, something solid from rockstar( GTA5 or RDR2) and fifa
