ok people settle down, it's not that simple, it's easy to sell a lot when you're one of the only games on the system, imagine if ps4 only had Uncharted 4 & Bloodborne, what would all those 45m people buy? well what else? they can only buy Uncharted 4 & Bloodborne, that the situation on the wii u, but that's not the situation on ps4, and that's not the situation that should be, so all the "you see now haters?? wiii u games can selll tooo (insert feels trollface)" can calm down

I agree and I've made that point before. Imagine having to sell MK on a system that has 10-20 big releases per year. It becomes a bit more challenging then as there's only so many games someone can buy in a year.

Yeah , right, sure.  Mario Kart 8 is the only game.  Nevermind Super Mario 3D World, Smash Bros, New Super Mario Brothers U, Bayonetta 2, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Wonderful 101, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, etc etc etc.  All these other games that are not only there but have not been aided by the lack of 3rd party support to sell anywhere near this despite being positively received by all involved.  Nevermind that low installbases traditionally don't help sales of games based on past patterns.  Nevermind that many if not most Wii U owners almost certainly own another major gaming platform since, despite what many like to think on the internetz, console warz aren't serious business and you don't have to sign your right to buy a PS4 away when you buy a Wii U, thus rendering your "no games to buy" argument moot.  Yeah nevermind all those facts, let's just live in your little fantasy.

i can name you 20 games on other platforms for each game you named on the wii u

+1, thumbs up, yeah'd, liked, and favorited!

Also, if PS4 only had 2 games it's installbase would not be anywhere near 45m. If you remove Mario Kart 8 from existence, that wouldn't make 3D World/Pikmin 3/etc. sell better, it'd only make the Wii U sell worse, which in turn lowers software sales all around.

No surprise there, it's Mario Kart, and it's by far the most popular local and online multiplayer title for the console.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Congratulations.  But 1) doesn't change that that fact has not helped the other games on the Wii U, including games rated *higher* than Mario Kart 8, 2) low installbases and lack of 3rd party support traditionally doesn't help sales in any way, and 3) as I said, many if not most own more than *just* a Wii U, especially when you consider over half the sales came post-mid 2013 after 3rd party support fell off a cliff and everyone knew it wasn't getting it back.  In fact, the fact it got the sales it got and influenced the Wii U's sales to the degree it did in mid 2014 is more impressive since 90% of people by that time knew for a fact they were buying an exclusives-only machine.  Looking at all past trends and history and the *causes* of such indicates that the far more important aspect of Mario Kart 8 that led to the sales is that it was a very well received game with a very powerful brand behind it.  If fewer games and a small but dedicated install base=better sales, then there are a number of games whose sales should be far higher.  They aren't.  Becaue that reasoning is incorrect.

That's the best software to hardware ratio if I've ever seen one. Still, it could have been an even bigger titan had the Wii U performed better. Very impressive, nonetheless

Freaking insane on a base of 13 million consoles.

Nintendo is king when it comes to attach rates and no game from Sony or MS comes close to what the most successful Nintendo games do.
