Until the system is fully detailed and Nintendo are no longer in this state of secrecy, people will continue to overreact to every ambigious wording that gets reported.

"*may not be the final colour*" - Nintendo

"OMFG IT'S GONNA BE NEON PINK WITH A GLOWING RAINBOW TRIM AND YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO BUY IT ANY OTHER COLOUR!!!!" - the internet.

Perfect parody

2 million seem decent enough. Not great though.

Should be noted though, that they plan to ship that many unit just to sell in the remaining days of march, so it wont be the total shipment for a full month. So lets say that the Switch launches on the 20th, so they "plan" to sell 2 millions in 10 days. But they could also launch the system in the 10th.So it really depends on the day it launches to say if this is good or bad news. But it is safe to say that it will be way less than 30 days.I think the minimum is to last 20 days.

Well Switch will seemingly launch March 4, so that's pretty close to a full month if that's the case.

For some reason I've always thought the Switch would come out towards the end of the month...

NDA type information is not given at investor meetings, so if it was deleted it is likley because it was false.

A deleted tweet doesn't mean that it's false though, even more in the financial sector. You don't want your tweet to mess with Nintendo's business when you're one of Nintendo's investors for example...

Nintendo is really insisting on "the Switch is a home console and is different from the 3DS", so we'll see. It's not like Nintendo never made any mistake, and keeping their pure handheld market alive as a safety net is not necessarily a mistake anyway.

It would be widespread news by the end of the day, if true. Nintendo obviously know that the Switch isn't currently a 1:1 replacement for people looking for a cheap, small handheld. The Switch will get smaller and more portable SKU variations down the road, until then they're continueing to support the 3DS which will still be the entry point Nintendo device for at least a year following Sun and Moon's release.

Hmmm that actually seems a little low? Maybe I'm mistaken, would have thought a console would ship more at launch though.

2m in launch month is good, PS4 had around that much at launch as well.

PS4 had sold-through 2.1million on December 1st 2013, at that point it was out for 17 days in NA and 3 days in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America (32 countries total).

Depending on the launch titles, I might be one of those 2 millions :)

g'luck with that.

what little hype i had for switch died when they suggested 3DS will be getting a proper successor after switch.

Provide link to that, unless you are talking about the fact that they said Nintendo Switch is not successor to the 3DS and Wii U.

Found it, I will still say that is a strange rumor, not at all confirmed. However wonder what the sucessor to the 3DS could be.

yeah, i'm not saying there for sure will be something else but as a vita owner i kind of expected to buy the next nintendo handheld.  i don't find switch a good fit for that as i demand are more portable solution than switch.

i'm gonna wait and see for at least a year to see if anything else is announced.

So first shipment will stand at 2 million. Lucky me that I live in Romania and will be able to pick one up from the store day 1 without having to wait in line

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

How many units did the 3DS sell in its 1st month?

The Wii U obviously taught them caution, add to the fact that its not a holiday season and Switch is being proceeded by 3 new hardware releases (Xbox One S, PS4Slim and PS4Pro) and 2m seems like a conservative yet sensible amount. Since its not Christmas you don't have to worry about parents immediately opting for alternative devices, just to ensure a present.

Soon as I see some launch titles I gonna preorder if they look half decent. By half decent I mean some sorta game I can play with my Mrs aka DKTF2,SM OR MK. Obs BOTW but also I want a decent 3rdparty game like fifa or battlefield

Fair, I feel they are doing the whole safe thing personally, if Switch doesn't do well, they have something to back up on. I personally think their will be pure handheld version of switch, and pure console version of switch a year after Switch itself.
