Forums - Sales Discussion - Uncharted 4 surpasses Halo 5 in global total sales

Well, that puts both systems to a shame. Both games won't beat Mario Kart in terms of sales and attach rate.

/thread

To be fair, that is a Nintendo title, and we all know Nintendo platforms and games do not follow the same paths MicroSony games do. It's a pretty weak comparison, not that an exception or two to the rule changes the rule, anyway. Far and away the main reason Uncharted 4 will sell more than Halo 5 is the userbase difference, that's just good old common sense. There are other reasons, like competition, franchise fatigue, lack of faith in 343, but the userbase difference is by far #1 and really makes the other reasons pretty irrelevant.

That again ^^

The user base is just the double so even if we choose to ignore digital sales, it is not suprise a Play Station Four title like Uncharted 4 can manage to barely beat Halo 5. I mean we are talking about almost the double here (user base); what else could you expect? It is just comon sense... You can turn this into anything else but this is main factor (and by far)

While UC4 certainly has had digital sales to *x extent*, H5's going to be beating 4 in this regard.

Based on what?

UC4's PS4 S bundles are physical so it makes sense the game is now seeing a boost.

Waiting for you to repeat the reasons why it having bigger userbase than Halo 3 on launch sold less.

Based on what?

-The amount of digital copies from its various game bundles

-The compare/contrast we can figure out of H5's physical vs. digital from O'Connor's comments of 5 million sold within 3 months:

http://wccftech.com/halo-5-sold-5-million-copies-within-3-months/

-The extra time it's been out (<---this one's more of an assumption based on the previous point though)

That is shipped to customer, already been debunked dozen of times in this thread alone. But if you want to believe their PR ok, it just contradicts the estimative of 25-30% digital sales pushing it over 50% which would be another mistake... but if that will make you happy go with it.

Repeat what? Did I ever mention Halo 3?

We are talking about Halo 5 and UC4 numbers here and if you want bring Halo 3 fine; but I'm not and do not think it is relevant so enjoy it without me :)

Numbers are simple:

Play Station Four user base = Xbox One user base X 2
VGChartz numbers for UC4 = Halo 5 = 4.2m

That's all that matters at this point and related to the OP. Even if you want to ignore the digital sales and really stick to the most likely innacurate VGC numbers; UC4 barely beats Halo 5 with a way larger user base. Not sure what there is to argue here and nobody is arguing that UC4 still did well lol

You ruled out Splatoon selling more than both on a userbase that is half X1 and 1/4 PS4... and want to see how you rule out Halo 3 selling a lot more than Halo 5 even on a lower userbase. The userbase excuse is the least convincing since we know for a long time that attach ratio isn't constant with the increase of the userbase since the bigger the userbase the more varied taste.

So is the Halo 5 Xbox One S bundle...

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I guess we have a very different definition of debunked :)

I do not see anything debunking that in the thread alone other that people wishing/hoping for it to be false and stating is at a fact. I'm sorry but everywhere you look at; there is no such thing as those 5 millions figure being "shipped" only but really "sold". I'm sure you can find one or two articles with some conspiration theory and Internet forum analysts saying or trying to prove otherwise though...

For the 30% to 50% in digital; I do not see why this would be a mistake to believe that. Esp. for certain games and the way Microsoft is pushing for them digitaly (including using the Xbox One dashboard to promote it and make it super easy to buy).

And meanwhile a new Ip on the tiniest userbase this gen has outsold them both.

It should with the lack of third party support, Halo & Uncharted have actual competition.

Yeah it will eventually surpass it, but the fact that is still above both being totally new on such a tiny userbase is really an impressive achievement, imagine if the userbase was big.

Of course, does not have the competition of other games on your platform all Wii U has is 1st party games.

Sure it has less competition, but I doubt that affects that much when a game has such a huge appeal, and also 13m VS 45m ... Userbase is not everything, but when the difference is that big, it does makes a difference.
