Eurogamer stated it was a game, which probably didn't have any interactive parts.
Anyway old news but here:
http://www.icxm.net/x/gears-choice-coalition.html

I'm not talking about what Eurogamer said I'm talking about what Microsoft said.

And again from Microsoft. "@BlackTuskStudio has been working on an all original IP since its inception, we've just brought the GOW franchise into our portfolio and have not yet determined the future of the new IP at this point," the account wrote.

I've looked at your source and it seems you have conceeded to the fact that it was a new IP and not a tech demo?

Edit: the source for the article you posted says,

"You don’t spend a year and a half working on a game without getting attached to it."

It wasn't a tech demo.

IP =/= game.

That project was in pre-production with 20 people while MS was making a deal with Epic.

It was Black Tusk choice to work on Gears instead of the other project they were planning.

Working on a new IP for a year and a half isn't a game?

I literally just quoted Black Tusk calling it a game jesus christ.

Look bro, that project didn't have a story, didn't have a direction and not even a name.

They used Unreal engine to demonstrate what they wanted to do. That "tech demo" you saw at E-3, was made by 20 total people at Black Tusk at the time.

They weren't even a AAA studio.

Non AAA studio means the game doesn't count?

Look when they say their developing a new IP that means a game. They worked on it for 18 months and they called it a game.

It was a game, let it go. From literally every single source and from THEIR MOUTHS they called it a game.

Is this a good thing or bad thing? My pitchfork is ready.

People call fetuses babies but the appropriate term is fetus.

Let it go. You're just getting into loop right now, I've been knowing this since January 2014.

And they were aiming at AAA productions with 20 people. Go figure what that means in terms of production phase.

It was a game in development, they were developing a game. They're called game developers and they spend 18 months developing a game that they then cancelled.

You called it a TECH DEMO. It wasn't a tech demo, it was a game that was being developped, a game that was a new IP.
If Dreams/GOW 2017, New spiderman, Kojima game got cancelled, you wouldn't call it a tech demo. You will call it a cancelled game.

> Studio working on a new IP for 18 months
> Wasn't a game.

Okay.

I feel like I'm in the most ridiculous internet discussion of all time.

You're right. They were developing a game, and you're right. The conversation was painful.
