Everything in this world is ultimately a mystery, and will always be. No matter what scientists find out there, it will still be something that was not made by man, and therefore, ultimately a mystery.

The people who claim to truly understand this world are the real fools, imo.

Here's the bottom line.  Everyone puts faith in something.  Human's are religious by nature.

Religious by nature doesn't imply there is a god or gods. Some people grow out of it.

for a 95% confidence level with a +/- 5% your sample size for the Finnish population (5.4 M) should be roughly 38,147 compared to the 258 that were surveyed.

I wonder if aliens that are capable to interstellar travel have religion. Will they allow the Pope to convert them? lol

Ms Lindeman and Ms Svedholm-Häkkinen asked 258 Finnish people to report how much they agreed that “there exists an all-powerful, all-knowing, loving God” and whether they believed in paranormal phenomena such as telepathy and visions of the future. They then matched their answers with a range of other factors, including exam results, survey answers and performances on different tests.

They also found that people who believe in God and the paranormal are more likely to be women and tend to base their actions on instinct rather than analytical thinking.

Previous studies have suggested religious people tend to have a lower IQ and are more likely to believe literally in what scientists called “bullshit statements” including phrases like “Earth wants water” and “Force knows its direction”. However, they are also found to be happier and have greater life satisfaction than non-believers and are seen as more generous and trustworthy.

Previous studies have suggested religious people tend to have a lower IQ and are more likely to believe literally in what scientists called “bullshit statements” including phrases like " Religious people understand the world less" ... I think we have quite a few posters that fell for this study hook line and sinker that might not realize their religion (where they place their faith) is science  and that much that passes as science is sloppy and inaccurate.  Food for thought.

No they don't because NO ONE has all the answers. "Everyone puts faith in something."

If your denying reality then you have to believe in something else.

Some people will look at natural events like earthquakes and believe them to be the acts of god to punish sinful people.

Lets face it denial of reality has its uses. It can be a great comfort for those who have lost loved ones or who have been the victim of horrible crimes and believe the perpetrators will be punished in the after-life.

People wouldn't take drugs or escape into video games etc if reality wasn't a bit crap at times.

Our perceptions of reality are as individual as we are many times. Humans are flawed, so are their perceptions.

I'm totally sure I won't be locking this in a few hours due to angry athiests and thiests fighting over "Im smrter than u cuz i dun belive in a sky wizard (they think repeating this enough will make them look clever for whatever reason) an u dooo!" and then the thiests will go "u cnt prov god aint real so ur dumb" and then the children cry and scream until we have to ban them and lock the inevitable response threads. It's all the same really. Happens every. single. time. It's depressing. It's stupid. And you could use that energy to post on a good thread that doesn't promote anal fissure anger that these threads seem to produce.

I am offended, I actually had an anal fissure.

This topic is relevant because obviously many believe this. Now there is evidence to support it.

And how'd it feel?

Didn't you pretty much post the exact same thing a week ago?

And what does that have to do with what I was saying?

"God isn't where the smart money is."

You really cannot bet for or against God since no one can truly prove or disprove his existance while misconceptions of God/Jesus throw fallicies in attempts to discredit those who believe in God/Jesus.

Are you familiar with the saying, "I wouldn't bet on it"?  It isn't a statement of certainty but rather one of probability or perceived likelihood.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

What religion did they analyse? i am yet to hear something like this from a religious person?

I've heard crap like this from supposed no collar people who identified themselves as free spirits and look like they high on something.
