Forums - Politics Discussion - Was Obama America's weakest president yet?

I think from 2010-2012 the Obama administration continued the Bush Doctrine that if you overthrow Dictators you will magically get liberal democracies.

As a result they supported the rebels in Syria, Libya and other countries.

Of course in countries with backwards religious cultures, its silly to expect a liberal democracy can pop up out of nowhere.

Obama also accumulated more debt than all presidents before him combined. It is now at 165K per taxpayer.

The bail out of the banks was a needed step and one voted for in the senate, signed by Bush just before the end of his term so majority the debt was in Obama's presidential campaign. That isn't really an Obama thing, that was a world problem at the time and would have been done regardless the leader.

The Debt Obama entered Office was around 10.5 Trillion

it is now 19.5 Trillion.

So you are wrong

The entire population of the West have been living beyond their means for decades now.  Seriously just go to China/India, meet the people and then try to justify why they work so hard for so little.

Eventually we'll need to repay that debt, the world will be a little fairer after it happens.

-Lost Philippines and losing Turkey as allies, others are now slowly starting to look for alternatives

-Unwilling to stop Russian aggression from the Baltics to Georgia

-China grows stronger and demands the South China Sea

-Let the Syrian mess grow bigger by not intervening(no oil in Syria so don't bother like Libya?)

It seems America isn't assertive anymore and losing it's position in the world.

What about Bush? All this middle eastern stuff... because of wars that wherent needed, to secure oil.

Look where its lead the world, the middle east is a mess. Terrorist attacks happend daily around the world it almost seems.

To me that seems a hellva lot worse than loseing Philippines as supporters of some cause that doesnt matter.

Missed the point a little. His job wasn't to remove the national debt but stablise it and the economy, basically lower the growth, which I think he has done (well him and rest of the world considering it was a world wide problem). Debt was going to go up, regardless of who was in charge.

Hmm, pie.

True I think the debt would have increased but the rate of growth has acelerated again as the Obama economy has seen low economic growth.

Yes but it hasn't increased exponentially or at consistant rate through his entire campaign, it's up suddenly and is then leveling out over the last few years, this is the key bit. Hopefully the next president can carry this trend on and bring that leveling out to a decrease.

Hmm, pie.

The debt will likely spiral out of control as we are hit by more disasters due to climate change, the next eventual recession and increasing entitlement spending as population gets older.

From someone outside of America, most of the world likes Obama, and seeing as your point relies on international relations. I'd say he's succeeded on that front.

So because President Obama is cautious on starting wars, he is the weakest president? Um... what?

He did start wars in Libya, officially to get rid of Gaddafi, but we all know it's to secure the oil

Syria's dictator has been treating its citizens much worse but Obama looked the other way, because there's no oil.

His indifference and nonaction led to more suffering, Isis and a weaker America.

Russia's so strong they can influence US elections now, insane and unthinkable just 10 years ago.
