It's called marketing :). It wouldn't be very effective marketing to have a discussion about what "true 4K" means or "high fidelity VR". When you market something you want it to be effective, a simple message and to sounds as awesome as possible. That means also giving up on giving some additional information.

There is downplaying on both sides here.

Firstly, Microsoft is clearly over-reaching. Inventing a new term to try and articulate the power differential the Scorpio will have over other consoles. I would argue, given the timing of this, they are reacting to the Switch as much as the PS4P.

Secondly, Sony has definitely ceded ground on technical specs over the last few months. They release a pricey 'high-end' '4k' console on which 4k is entirely optional (and apparently very sporadic) and without next gen (increasingly current gen) media capabilities. They do this despite a cheaper alternative from Microsoft. And they apparently intend it to be their primary stable-mate for the next few years, despite the arrival of the Scorpio.

You're wrong. There are multiple nativ 4K games announced for the Pro already.

Like what some ppl have mentioned, price is the determinant factor. If money is not a problem, you can even play in 8k with your cpu

What is it with MS and just blatantly lying now? "Best selling console in US", "Scorpio is the only true 4K gaming console"? They must really think lowly of their fans to believe they're this stupid. Although, looking at the YouTube Xbox fan camp, they're not wrong...

All of this new hardware is exciting. But, it is making it hard for me to pull the trigger on anything. At this point last year, I was figuring I'd pick up a PS4 this holiday. But, with Scorpio and Switch coming next year, I'm not so sure that's the right move. (I have an XB1 and WiiU, so I have no shortage of current gen games to play). I can't see myself purchasing three consoles in a 14 month period. So, something has to give.

Indeed just as it's true with the same power difference between xbox one and ps4, all games on ps4 are true 1080p while not a single game on xbox one is native 1080p. WiiU doesn't have a single 1080p game either, nor the ps3 or xbox 360!

It's going to be a fun year. By the time the Scorpio comes out that 6tf will look even less impressive than 4.2tf does now. A GT 1080 already does 9tf.


What are their plans for hi-fidelity VR? What the heck is hi-fidelity VR. So many words, so little to actually show. While Nintendo says nothing, finally shows a video without any concrete details only to further stoke the rumors lol.

Back to my low-fi VR fun, getting closer to the platinum in Rez Infinite :)

uhhh...pretty sure smash bros runs at 1080p and 60 fps...

Im hyped for the scorpio, the way I see it with these mid generation things I will just switch between buying a playstation and xbox product like:

PS4 (own) > Scorpio > PS5 > new XBOX > PS6

That way I can play all games on the consoles and not miss out on anything ^_^ and I will just buy the third party games on the currently best console in power I own, I like both companies and exclusive line-ups

I was thinking about buying a PS4Pro for a while and trading my old ps4 in for a xbox one but I just feel like the scorpio is going to be better because I do want a UHD player and I don't think I can trade my launch ps4 in for a xbox one s...
