For the simple reason that we don't really have consistent hard numbers for them, America+Europe combined.

I don't want to have to go out on a leg based off VGChartz numbers.

ps4+x1=90 million+.

switch=7 million I think?

There you go.

I meant software sales. I apologize if "hard numbers" led you to believe I was referring to hardware sales.

I mean, I have no problem with looking into Nintendo Investor Relations for hardware figures for Americas+Europe (which they helpfully provide in the presentation they had).

EDIT: StarDoor pointed out to me that you bolded the part with install base earlier. Allow me to clarify that I was disregarding that due to the lack of clear numbers we have re: software sales in the west; unlike the sales in Japan which are reported by MC (physical) and Famitsu (digital).

Are you guys ever going to let this thread die? XD

Anyway. I don't know why people are worried about Switch's 3rd party support. There are 300 developers making games for it and the number of titles are increasing very fast. In matter of a fact the number of Switch titles doubled between August and October.   Also we have indie developer after indie developer say "Are games sell best on Switch". Koei Tecmo said they were "very happy" with the Switch sales. They also plan to release more exclusive Switch titles.
Also Disgaea 5 sold on par with the PS4 version.  People need to realize that 3rd parties releases in the 1st year on Nintendo titles are usually garbage compared to what comes later.  I mean how many 2011 3rd party 3DS titles did most people buy? Not many. It will get better. A lot better. Trust me on this.

If you are impatient and want to know what the future holds then remeber that the Switch will get all indies + 3DS/Wii U / Vita 3rd party support. I also expect some western games from AAA companies to eventually put some games as well. Though I do not expect them to go full steam ahead for awhile.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

Was the Switch, in OP's words, dead on arrival or not?

Yes and that statement is indeed incorrect. That's why I said "in a way" or partially if you prefer. OP also says that "Nintendo is doing the same mistakes as they did with WiiU" and that "it was WiiU all over again". That is I think not proven wrong so far, because the imbalance between 1st and 3rd party is looking essentially the same as with previous systems.

I plan to make a big analysis thread on Switch and 3rd parties in early Jan. 18 so let's all meet and discuss the situation there. I'll answer a few important point but let's get done with this thread.

Regarding Ubisoft , do you think Mario and Rabbids was not a big project?

It is a big and successful project, but it's not a 3rd party game.

you don't have a switch and havn't been looking at the eshop i take it..

Regarding the indies talk, yes Switch is the ultimate indy machine, Bravo! But indies won't make the difference.

The flow of Switch titles is growing exponentially, many Indies have said their games were the most successful on the Switch, Bomberman, Street Fighter, Dragonball, etc. all sold well. There won't be a PS Vita or 3DS in Japan anymore in 2018, so where else should japanese third parties go

No, Switch currently has 4 games scheduled for Q1 2018 in Japan, PS4 has 20. In the whole 2018, Switch has 20 3rd party games and PS4 60. Nothing "exponentional" here.

And yes there are several PSVita games scheduled for 2018.

Mario X rabbids is third party. It was developed internally by ubisoft.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Actually I really don't. Maybe you could enlighten me with the high sales figures of Ubi and Bethesda on Switch?

What I know is :

- Nights of Azure 2 Switch sold 13% of total in Japan, 8 times less than PS versions

- Fate Extella sold 15 times less than on PS platforms in Japan

Seems you didn't factor in Switch ownership in Japan versus PS platforms, the former of which experienced severe supply problems and have been out for less time.

Also, I assume you mean Vita and 4 when referring to PS versions/platforms. Hardly a fair comparison, I would think.

And finally, let's check up on these games on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Nights-Azure-Bride-New-Moon-PlayStation/dp/B073P7Z7YF/ref=ice_ac_b_dpb_twi_gam_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1509598454&sr=8-1&keywords=nights%2Bof%2Bazure%2B2&th=1

As of this post, Nights of Azure 2's PS4 version ranks at 1353, Switch version 1023.

https://www.amazon.com/Fate-Extella-Umbral-Star-PlayStation-4/dp/B01LNTCM20/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1509598799&sr=1-2&keywords=fate+extella

PS4 version rank 29870, Switch version 20208.

- FIFA18 Switch has vanished from EU charts and showed up low in the NPD Switch chart

- NBA2K18 Switch barely showed up in EU charts

Sports games don't do as well on switch as they do on ps4 and x1 if Amazon is anything to go by:

https://www.amazon.com/NBA-2K18-PS4-Digital-Code/dp/B071L43HFZ/ref=sr_1_5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1509599360&sr=1-5&keywords=nba+2k18

ps4, 624

x1, 685

switch, 1492

and yet other titles seem to do better on Switch. See Sonic Mania

https://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Mania-Nintendo-Switch-Digital/dp/B074T6H127/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1509599655&sr=1-1&keywords=sonic+mania

switch, 927

ps4, 2666

x1, 3357

Rime on switch versus ps4 versus x1, 429 vs 1260 vs 5621. Note Rime's higher price on Switch.

https://www.amazon.com/RiME-Nintendo-Switch-Standard/dp/B01MXYX880/ref=sr_1_24?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1509599867&sr=1-24&keywords=switch%2Bgames&th=1

Axiom Verge on switch and ps4; 684, 3397

https://www.amazon.com/Axiom-Verge-Multiverse-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B073ZWJWQL/ref=sr_1_47?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1509600346&sr=1-47&keywords=switch%2Bgames&th=1

Keep in mind ownership numbers as we go through these figures.

We'll have more data in the next 2 months but so far 3rd parties on Switch haven't set worldwide charts on fire, while PS4 3rd parties are always in good position.

Also, Ubi is just porting old games on Switch and keeps its big projects for PS4 (AC, Far Cry, etc.) so it's not an example of solid 3rd party support.

I don't really see the problem here. For once a Nintendo console doesn't have a stupid gimmick that devs have to cater to.
The smartphone is a universal concept accepted by every consumer, only that this one can also be plugged into a bigger screen without effort.

Good call, past me.

In Japan certainly not. In the USA it had a strong first month, but the lack of numbers in its second month is suspicious, however I'll wait till we actually know them. In Europe same thing, launch was strong for the most part, but I'll wait for more numbers.

While I could have been wrong about its launch, I still doubt it's long term future. Let's see how things manifest this holiday season.

But hey, if I was wrong, I was wrong, not like I could care much to be honest.

Though he did play the classic "I don't care if was wrong" card, he did show up at some point.

Is he still waiting for them numbers?

I think BananaKing might still be right in a way. Look, Switch is selling fast but software sales tell the same story told before with the Wii and the WiiU : first party shines but 3rd parties bite the dust. At some point Switch is bound to struggle from its weak library and the lack of 3rd party exclusives. It may end up far stronger than the WiiU, but it will have had the same trajectory.

Just like the 3DS?
