often, laptops have had touch screen and none touch screen versions of the same machine for a while now.

But those are laptops. They have mouse pads. Name me 3 tablets without a touchscreens.

this system has controllers. so there is an alternate means of interacting  with it

It was a joke, guys lol

I'm sure it will, in home console mode you won't be able to use it (but thats cause those will be the mainly home console type games) while it would be smart to have it on there for things such as browsing, etc, and being able to play touch games (mainly mobile type games) like picross, etc while in mobile mode.

I mean you're holding this to the standard of a tablet, and it's a video game console. who ever said it was a tablet?

Would be a bigger fail than the Wii U if it didn't.

You know, I am slowly starting to have a conspiracy theory that someone at Nintendo looks at these kinds of posts on various forum boards, and see if people say things along the lines of "oh yea Nintendo would never do this" or "Nintendo would be dumb not to include this."

And just for the sake of triggering people, they'll defy everyone's expectations just to cause turmoil.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

If Nintendo thinks it's primarily a home console, it means there's probably not going to be a touch screen. That's because everything has to be designed to work without a touch screen, so adding it wouldn't be very beneficial to it. I'm not saying there won't be a touch screen, but I think it's slightly more likely that it won't have one.

I love this theory :) made me giggle imagineing it.

Sony got alot of hate for cutting 4k blu-ray out, with people saying its a waste to not just spend those extra 15-25$ and include it.

They did that to reach a price point they wanted, without selling it at a loss.

MS got hurt with the kinect.

History taught us that makeing a "lean" machine works out well.

Look at the Switch... it doesnt appear to have a camra/microphone.

Its reasonable they cut that because they didnt feel it was nessary for their console, to keep prices down.

Its not un-imaginable to me, they would do the same with the screen.

Get a cheap screen that isnt touch.

It depends on if they want normal android like Apps running on it, that make use of touch.

Or if they just want people to see it as a handheld nintendo game only machine.

Besides why include touch screen, when alot of the time its going to be docked, and you wont use it anyways?

Waste of money.

Also its counter productive, if you make touch games and apps... they wouldnt work the same when docked.

It had better have one. Otherwise, they can kiss those casuals goodbye.

I'm with you there. they seem interested in gaining enough pairity to the current consoles to get 3rd [party support, thus they'd want to pump as much power into this package as possible. Adding touch screen conponants on top of it seems like it could more so hurt the potential power the device could have.

It will all come down to priority I assume...................nintento's priorities are often not in line with the general consumer's expectations.......
