The president of the Philippines announced Thursday the country will break economic and military ties with the United States, while allying itself with China and possibly Russia.

"Your stay in my country was for your own benefit," recently elected president Rodrigo Duterte said, referring to the United States. "So time to say goodbye, my friend.

"I will not go to America anymore. I will just be insulted there," he added.

Duterte made the announcement Wednesday in a speech in Beijing. Among a slew of expletives, he accused the United States of arrogance by imposing its policies on other nations, including the Philippines.

"In this venue, I announce my separation from the United States both in the military — not maybe social, but economics also," Duterte declared. "America has lost."

The Phillippines, the guy is on spree of bad choices. 

Economically cutting ties with the strongest buyers in the world is not the best choice.

Duterte. He is always a loose cannon. He is always going off dropping long tirades of curse words. And in interviews he is confrontational. He pretty much threw away the US money. I hope his country will be all right. A typhoon could change his opinion of the US pretty quickly.

Lulz, Duerte is essentially just trump excepting, of course, that he enjoys murdering people as well (he himself has said as much).

Don't get me wrong. I want the US to stop trying to bully China on its own turf, but this seems excessive.

I feel like he'll regret this. Everything I've heard about this guy makes me question him as a leader for their country.

Blabla geopolitics. The USA will cry a bit, China will be happy, Duterte will kill some people who probably didn't deserve it.
