Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch: Why it will be a gigantic smash hit.

Nintendo Switch?

Amazing! 96 33.57%

Very good! 51 17.83%

Nice. 60 20.98%

Terrible. 29 10.14%

It will flop. It sucks. 50 17.48%

Total:286

Everything comes back to games and support. If the Switch receives Wii U level support then its pretty much dead in the water.

Not sure it will be a smash hit, but I think it will do better than the WiiU. Mainly because of Japan.

If the rumored specs are true then ... you know that "jack of all trades but master of none" line? That.

If doesn't look like a very good on-the-go handheld and it might not be a very good home console in terms of third party gaming, either. Both of those are important factors for many people.

Now, I'm not saying it won't be successful. It will have some very popular software. At the same time, though, I don't see why it would be a "gigantic smash hit".

This is my worry too.  Ultimately though,  price and the games line up will decide if it's successful or not and I doubt we'll find all that out until next year.

Hmm...

Do not get me wrong. I love the concept and the name. Both are not only simplistic and elegant but effective as well. Add the massive amount of Nintendo based games like Pokémon and Animal Crossing that the system will have... and the Switch, at least on paper, looks like a world beater.

However, I will have to agree with some of the members still skeptical or have questions. The first is clearly the price. How much it will cost is key. The second is that, outside of the mainstays like Mario and Zelda, what other titles would we get outside of them that are third party? The third? Is the online going to be improved?

Its a 720p tablet. Competing in a world already jam packed with tablets. All that are more open and will be have more functionality than Switch. A couple of controller nubs won't make a difference when its just another tablet in a world filled with tablets.

this is such an over simplification of what this device is and what it aims to do.

Consumers look at things in the simplest of terms. Why buy this when a ipad does more, and gives access to ios? Why pay for this when it has a blurry 720p screen? Why pay for this when there are far more many tablets that offer more?

By chasing the blue ocean, they jumped into the reddest ocean on the planet. And I think they messed up bad. Instead of only facing Sony and MS, they are facing apple, samsung, lg, Sony, and every other mobile device on the planet.

I absolutely understand the concerns about third parties. Im going in with the notion that it will be like the WiiU. Everything above that will just be a bonus.

Ouch. Time to buy a tissue for the Switch. My regular 3ds still has two vertical stripes on the screen.

Want!!!! Now!!!!!

When do pre orders start? I can't see this costing more than $300. $199-$250 is probably the max I would think. Whatever it costs, I'm there day 1!

Yeah it looks ace but I'm still not not convinced on third party support. Depends how easy it is to port too and wether it can play xbox one type levels off games. From the trailer it would only suggest to be on par with Wii u. But I'll buy it any way just to be able zelda on the go

I feel very certain it will better than Wii U.

I get the impression people feel pretty good about this console. I'd be surprised if its not a hit.
