Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch: Why it will be a gigantic smash hit.

Nintendo Switch?

Amazing! 96 33.57%

Very good! 51 17.83%

Nice. 60 20.98%

Terrible. 29 10.14%

It will flop. It sucks. 50 17.48%

Total:286

I don't see it. Every time I have played a ps vita / psn cross-over game on ps3 I came away underwhelmed. Big screen and small screen experience are different and often not interchangeable to me.

As a successor to the 3DS, sure. Although without the second screen BC for 3DS games is out too I guess. I've tried handhelds, never had much fun with them, just not for me. So the idea of games being tailored to be a good fit on handhelds is a downside to me.

I liked the gamepad features of Windwaker HD, but this bullshit excuse makes sense now

To me it's a WiiU with less options, now the gamepad is locked inside the dock if you want to play on the tv, no more BC, no more dual screen multiplayer. Bad trade for working anywhere in the house. (not that the wiiU console is hard to move around if needed)

I don't think it will be successful.

Its a 720p tablet. Competing in a world already jam packed with tablets. All that are more open and will be have more functionality than Switch. A couple of controller nubs won't make a difference when its just another tablet in a world filled with tablets.

this is such an over simplification of what this device is and what it aims to do.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

It's a cool piece of tech, but in the end its about the price and the games for me.

It will also be about waiting to see if it will be a garanteed sucess before i go for it.

I also like that i don't see motion controls. It's a good sign.

I'm still amazed a screen and the whole hardware fit in that little thing.

Just asking here... what if i don't care about portabity and just want to have it on my tv? do i still have to pay for a screen i will ever use?

I may be too negative so i will stop posting about Switch until there are more news, but it's looking like a bigger mess than the Wii U tbh. I was forced to buy a Pro controller and yet the gamepad still turned on when i started the Wii U, also it was needed for the eshop..

I don't know, i really hope it's cheap at least.

Let me put this way: if it was out today, I would go to a store and buy it. I loved everything about it.

There's a difference between "I love what I've seen and want to buy it" and "It will be a gigantic smash hit and is a KO from big N". It's the same difference between an opinion and fanfiction.

Especially when we learned nothing about the console today, it's hilarious to see this kind of reaction :D

There where the same kinds of threads when the Wii U was announced, some even predicted 80-100 million sales.

If they offer a 4G model it could do amazing. If it is wifi only, the portable aspect becomes completely worthless, and it will sell less than 3DS and WiiU.

It has to have its own OS, and it has to have apps like instagram, facebook, twitter, whatsapp, etc. on par with the android and ios versions. This is the only way they can hope to even attract a youth audience.

If they do it right, and build a solid youth userbase, and release a smaller full on phone version in the next couple of year and a more powerful home unit for the dock, then they may be able to recapture the 100M+ userbase theg once held in the mobile space.

KBG29 on PSN&XBL

I think it will be a smash hit because if this was in gamestop right now I'd be walking there to buy one.

My only concerns are
-Online store
-Online store
and of course
-Storage space, for all the stuff I'll be buying from the
-Online store

I mean the Wii-U started to get it together a bit with the eshop and the 3ds the same but still those services are literally years behind where psn and xbla are, and it has to be possible to get the games on the store there for this to be a global success, a lot of towns and regions have really just gotten game shops which have gone to utter shit in the last couple of years, little mom and pop places have been closed down by the likes of gamestop which are for the most part, fucking tragically bad in every way from my experiences with them.

I love my Vita still because the online store and sales for the thing are amazing still, can get the games on there, back them up onto the CMA on my PC and it all works great... this Nintendo system needs to have the ability to quickly and easily buy the games online for it and then some good way to back them up so you don't have to be messing about with additional storage hanging off that sexy handheld.

Legit though... of all my expectations from the thread and threads of NX rubbish rumours, this reveal today was just fantastic, great advert, showed the console doing what it's made to do, play great games, everywhere. Hyped!

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

If the price is competitive and the marketing is on par with the preview then I can see it doing well tbh.

Like I said before in another thread, it will all depend on pricing, games and marketing.

And you know...   I think the biggest competition this is gonna face comes from the Android market.   Anyone that takes a little bit of time to do a research will find MANY tablets for less than $200 that will allow you to play N64, DS, SNES,  NES, PSP, PS1 and PS2 games on the go.   Heck,  there are several chinese tablets that even come with dozens of those games pre-installed and cost less than $150.   And mind you,  all of these tablets DO give you the option to play on your TV, and some of then actually have physical controllers.

Now, of course none of these tablets offer you the "hassle free" set up.  And you wouldnt be able to play the latest Nintendo games on them..  but being able to do all that retro-gaming on the go for less than $150 really is a tempting offer.

let me just give you a few examples:

You don't get for free, cause price will be double. I think price will be 450 dollars.
