Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor: Nintendo Switch Dev Kit Specs

I wouldn't be too surprised if all of this actually turned out to be correct. Nintendo has been leaking a lot lately, and this seems reasonable for the HH part. So I'm really, really hoping the docking station can provide some extra juice! Or else this will not sell all that well. Core gamers won't buy it if it's not as good as the XB1 at least, I figure.

Honestly, Nintendo could have made the most powerful console in the market, with all the third party support possible and great exclusive games, and it wouldn't attract core gamers (I mean, MS/Sony/PC gamers) just because of stubborness and brand loyalty. They should really focus on keeping their userbase and attract casual gamers again. Make it cheap, accessible and marketable. Provide a good games lineup. And don't try to fight tech wise, it's just pointless. That's just my opinion, though.

I'm actually torn on this point. On the one hand I agree with you, on the other hand... If Nintendo made a machine strong enough to rival any from MS and Sony, and had all the 3rd party support, they  could CRUSH the competition; they have after all the best 1st party line up.

If this thing plays IOS or Android games and also offers its Nintendo games to these markets and app stores it will be huge success. Skyrim and Dena support hint in exactly that direction. Zelda Breath of the wild on Iphone controllable with parts of the the NX gamepad might become a reality.

Not sure. I mean, I agree, Nintendo has the best first party lineup. Now, if you want to attract core gamers from other fanbases, I'm not sure that raw power and good support are enough. Some people don't like Nintendo exclusives. Others think they are kiddie and immature. Others want to play the exclusives they were playing for the last 10 years... So the best option is trying to do something wildly different, and cheap, to become at least their second choice. Not trying to compete. And, honestly, Nintendo is bad competing, and it's more comfortable doing its own thing.

Maybe this is their way of becoming core gamers second choise. Who knows. If they are going to compete with MS/Sony they need to found a few Western studios to create games for the western market, and attracting core gamers that way.

Does anyone in their right mind expect 8th gen ports of Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect, Need for Speed and the next Tekken//Mortal Kombat/Soul Calibur to run just fine on the Switch? I thought the Wii U would teach some of you humility (and common sense).

Humility & common sense about what??? Explain yourself please!

I guess that the only way to know is waiting. Let's see what will be their target audience. We won't find out probably until next year, so we can have fun and relax looking at the constant rumour flux again xD.

Yeah, they're apparently not talking about Switch any more this year... So I don't know what we're supposed to do until then :P
