I don't think we've heard the last word on what advantages carts may bring us.
If it cuts out long download/install times - that's a huge game changer.
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Well.... no Nintendo systems like this. |
With a shitty streaming that needs stable internet and nobody uses.

Well I did say system as in singular, and all major systems prior to NS have been strictly either a home console or handheld.

I use remote play all the time from PS4 to PSV and it's great. Big part of why I'm excited about the Switch is taking that a step further.
It's nothing groundbreaking, but it was never done in such a way, with the detachable controllers and all of that. Also, it's the first "home console" system to jump into modern cartridges. So that could set a precedent actually.

^ this is the Wii U concept done right.
At the sametime, it also means a big jump for Nintendo's handheld gameing.
So if your the type that mostly enjoys nintendos handheld gameing, the Switch is like a dream machine.
You answered your own question. "it was the best thing they could do"
they know gamers will never leave x1 and ps4. THATS IT. its done! So this new innovative concept is pretty dam interesting.
a ps4 on the go and 2v2 player with controllers built in on 2 systems dual screen is pretty dam creative and portable.
3rd party support skyrim! its insane! good job nintendo and Nintendo will REMAIN KING OF MOBILE GAMING
consider then the next DS.
In my opinion is the strongest console ever from Nintendo, looks agressive, is economical, does a lot of stuff and at the same time is simple.
It is a amazing gadget and I can see it becoming a fever.
Its not a generational leap. Its abandonment of the Home Console environment. Yes this thing can be put in the taco shell base and be played on the TV, but it isn't a home console. It would be like saying PSP was a home console. Nintendo most likely could have easily put all of this into a base unit without a screen, battery, and janky controller and sold it for $199-249.
