Forums - Gaming Discussion - Talk about the NX docking station

I have a different theory. There will be multiple docks available throughout the life of the switch. These docks will have the extra juice and gpu for more powerful gaming. The cheapest one will just be a dock but at launch there will be a more expensive one with scd. And two-three years from now a more powerful scd dock will be available. Nintendp, if it wants could eliminate generations altogether by releasing a more powerful tablet console every five-six years and a more powerful scd every two three years but the scds will stop being compatible with previous tablets as more are released. so you could get more power every three years.

yeah  & maybe SCDs implemented into future  "Pro docks" but as  for what we saw in the trailer, simply a power saver setting in portable mode and performance setting in docked mode.  The tablet seems to have exhaust/cooling and thicker than most on the market, so NS may feature close to the full X2 chip (custom) if not above. Hopefully the specs get released soon to clear the air.

1st XB1 have games runinng at 1080p too.

Second why you comparing power to XB1, Switch is Nintendo platform, why you don't comparing Wii U power with Switch!? Wii U have power of around 175GF, weak CPU and 1GB RAM for devolpers. And guess what, most of Nintendo games are 720p/60fps on Wii U even some games runing at 1080p, Wii U is i bascily Nintendo 720/60fps mashine, so its not hard at all to imagine that hardware of ARM A57 cpu (much stronger than Wii U CPU), GPU of around 500GF and around 4GB of RAM would alove that Nintendo games work at 1080p.

Well thats simple. What games are you expecting to see on it? Lets take FF15 for instance. 1080p on PS4, 900p on XB1 and then we have NS. It that game or any multiplatform game is expected to come to the NS then you can't act like we are living in a bubble and the NS is its own thing. Unless you feel that when the XB1 can't run a game higher than 900p it would be somehow possible to run the same game on the NX at 1080p.

We don't compare the NS to WiiU because the NS isn't gonna sell on playing wiiU games better. If it's to be sold on its own merits it would be on how it plays it's own games and how it plays multiplatform games.

And just so you know, with the right kinda game, even the PS3/360 could run games at 1080p native at 60fps, so saying the wiiU could run games at 720/60 without pointing out why is kinda misleading.

If Nintendo is making a modern game, with modern a modern game engine and requirements in the IQ department, something that can be compared to the the best looking stuff PS4/XB1 has to offer, then no, its not gonna be able to do that at higher than 720p with the hardware it has. That's not saying Nintendo can't cut corners tho, like no AA and or baked in lighting or use an extremely imprecise AA solution and omit lots of other effects... or even take the super stylized route where it's easier to hide it's shortcomings.

And there is just so much stuff about all this that I really can't get into cause it will take too much time. You don't have to take my word for it though. In 6 months we all will have a very strong bead in what the NS can and can't do.

When I say 1080p I talking only about Nintendo games, from 3rd party PS4/XB1 ports I manly expecting 720p.

Most of NIntendo Wii U games are 720p/60fps, you can't really say that for PS3/Xbox 360 games.

Point is that because great art style Nintendo is using, their games don't require strong hardware like realistic PS4/XB1 games. For instance I could bet that Mario from Switch trailer is 1080p/60fps on TV. :)

Also Nvidia made them softwares, tools and APIs so they could use max performance from hardware.
