Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Did Nintendo just make a GOOD trailer/ad ?

Yes, this one was good and efficient.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

meh.
It did really well in explaining the concept.

As for the games... Really disappointing, too much WiiU remaster and so-so third party support.

I don't expect the system to sell well. Especially with its really outdated design.

I think this one did the trick

It's a good preview, much better than how the Wii U was revealed as people understand the concept and all.

It was good. However, I hated the idea of announcing it like that. They said yesterday that they would release a trailer and that's it, just a YouTube video.

I remember the PS4 announcement: they created a conference to announce "something" (we all knew what it was). And then they showed games, content, functionalities for 2 hours. With live streaming, live blogging, even theaters. They made it look like a big deal. Even PS4 Pro and Slim got a conference to brag about. If you want people to think your product is big, you need fanfare, you need to make it a big deal. Can you imagine iPhone 8 being launched as a 2 minute YouTube video?

To me, Nintendo made it look small. Made it look like it isn't important, and afterthought. Switch looks great, the announcement was "meh" at best.

Um... it was decent I guess. Nothing special about it.

Good ad for general populace, not sure about core gamers. So, for a new system I'd say it was a success.

I think it was a good trailer. Highlights basic platform uniqueness. A perfect trailer will highlight a much broader range of games and in this tech age, it will need to highlight hardware power/features.

One of their best in fact.

I said it elsehwere but it was very much this ad from Sony in terms of theme and tone.

And there is no need to market to kids.  Kids are always looking ahead.  When I was little, I dreamed about one day riding a dirt bike like my cousin.  If you market to young adults and teenagers then you're also marketing to younger kids, too.
