Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy XV is "very good"

This game will have the same impact as FFVII had back in the days.

While optimistic, I don't think it will. FF7 was the first FF game to reach PAL region.

Hmm, pie.

Because the cast looks very western xD

Well yeah. They're totally all western white instead of yellow like all Asian people or indeed Chocobos.

I suppose it may be because I'm not immersed in FF, but looking at FFXV I could still plainly see it was Final Fantasy from the very start.  Creature designs look like FF type stuff, the characters' hair is straight out of a FF game.  The gigantic swords.  And even the approach to scale and aesthetics in cities as well as depictions of technology look FF enough to me.  And let's not forget FF is a game series that has changed aesthetics many times.

Edit: also LOL at you acting like angsty main characters are somehow non-Final Fantasy.  Give me a break, a FF game without an angsty main character is almost unworthy of the name at this point, I've seen that much from what I have watched of the series.  And the cast doesn't even seem that angsty in FFXV from recent videos I've seen, they seem fairly chill, like normal guys.  As opposed to moody cardboard boxes with weird pink hair that spout bumper-sticker level pseudo-philosophical "deep" lines.

who would have thought

While true couldn't they have a bit of colour to their outfits? Give one of them blue jeans or a red cap for fun. FF8 had one of the most emo main characters of all time (at the start), yet at least his supporting cast has individual looks, one was a bloody cowboy.

Hmm, pie.

But you just said 15 will suck because it`s boring, mainstream and targeted to western audiences. All of those things are true of 13 as well...

That's just talk from people who haven't played all games. Except for Chocobos I've seen so far nothing from FFXV even hinting that it's a Japanese game let alone a Final Fantasy game. It's boring open world road trip bull.

FFXIII was colorful, whimsical, with a varied cast and an ultimately interesting and typical FF story. I'm not saying it didn't have weaknesses but at least it was something fun for a while.

FFXV is angsty teenagers on a road trip of grey and brown. A game where you have to look really hard to decide if it's Final Fantasy or just another Ubisoft open World Game is a bad Final Fantasy game. And that's exactly why western audiences will love it.

While I love FFXIII a lot, probably more than the average XIII player, I think you're being kind of unfair toward XV here. The elements are still there.

The world always looked good. My problem has always been the combat and the performance.

And despite what people say, i just don't enjoy the combat very much. I can see myself falling asleep playing it. Also, i didn't see enough variety in it to stay interesting for 100 hours.

I'm not hating. I just played the demo and didn't like it. Because its a mainline FF, i will end up buying it. But not before a price drop. At that point i will see if my concerns verify.

Which is also very Final Fantasy. All I'm saying is that FFXV is as far removed from the FF core as we've ever seen. Bothe in design and gameplay. And if that wasn't enough it also looks really really boring, which is not at all helped by the all male cast. Which is another thing that has never happened, no matter what a certain other forum member says.

I'm beginning to think that games that have a lot of criticism when fitted revealed have a tendency to turn out to be much better games than games that receive nothing but praise and adoration when revealed (looking at you NMS).

I couldn't be happier though, I've personally been intrigued from the get go, still have one concern though but that will only be known when we get the game.

Well The Order 1886 got alot of criticism and we all know how that turned out xD

I loved the Order. I don't know what all the hate was about. Really hope we get a sequal.

If they're there they're doing a great job of hiding from me.

Fact is that I have all right to be very concerned since the most hyped and most well received FFs in the west have all been snore fests for me with FFIX being the big exception.

I'm hoping FF XV will not run like shit on my OG PS4

That's is my only concern lol
