Diomedes1976 said: Blu Ray is killing HD-DVD everywhere ,thats pretty clear .Hd-DVD is alreadyu wiped out of Japan and the eastern market where BR has 96% of the market .It is already losing in NA and in Europe .Yes ,the 100K users of HD-DVD are buying movies like fanatics with a lobby-like mentality that is complemented with a hathred towards Sony like true sectarists and arrange in their forums "sales days " to buy movies and equal the balance but ....thats it .They are a very small and niche group that can put up a good fight spending nearly all their money in movies from 4 companies ...that isnt sustainable in the long run and the fact is that BR is winning without too much effort on casual movie sales by PS3 users.Sony is reducing the prices real fast for the blu diodes and I expect BR to fall in price faster than HD-DVD ....its a question of time BR wipes out HDDVD from existence ,theres no denying it .In any case the BR technology is superior (better storage capacity ,better transfer speed, better protection of the disks ,etc ) and for the general public the BR win will be a good thing .The best would be HD-DVD dying quickly ...the most people that buy that format the most people will get screwed . |
The European and Japanese markets combined aren't even as big as the US market for the hd format, so it doesn't really mater who is winning in those markets right now there to small. Even the US market is to small right now to say who is going to win. Just answer this in the US if there is roughly 1.5 million people with PS3 or bluray player and only roughly 300k with hddvd player or 360hddvd why does bluray only have around 55% of the US market share. I don't think "sales days" like you say can make that kind of impact on the market share. Also everything you say about bluray being superior than hddvd doesn't mater to the majority of the consumers.
