So, you'd rather work than play games, spend time with your gf or go out an eat, etc?

In some cases, yeah. I don't have a gf, but as much as I like playing games, it gets boring if I do it too much. My work is very rewarding. Heck, I like it enough that sometimes, last night for example, I even do it unpaid.

Well, is it because the job is good or because there's nothing else to do?

My job makes me feel good about myself. Sure, after a long shift I'll be waiting for it to end so I can go home and relax, but if I could just live on welfare and never work, I wouldn't.

So what we take from this is that most people who love their job don't have to actually do much at their work. How surprising.

My Etsy store

My Ebay store

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Cool thread, My 2 cents:
I love it now, not so much when I first was hired 16 years ago. (Union work)

Perks that I enjoy are:
4pm start time (30 minute commute on car, 1 hour on my bicycle),
Being able to talk to my boss and be able to tell him/her is wrong without repercussions.
Don't have to worry about fitting with my co-workers, my work ethic is what represents me.
Low stress work (can't be fired easily); however, we all take this job seriously where I work. (I push myself too)
It is my Gym as well as my job, (I am able to keep my BMI right where It needs to be).
My wage is fairly respectable for a single individual living in Southern California.
Benefits are good. (pension, medical, dental, vision)
I can take my vacation all together and travel, which I have. (6 weeks total per year)

Things I don't like about it:
My job can become repetitive, and mundane, (music + ear-buds alleviates it.)
I'm not saving the world, nor am I challenged enough mentally. (reading in down times helps this)
I'm tethered to a not so great part of Southern California (can't transfer and Venice Beach is 60 miles 100km away)

Tagging for later.

The work I do isnt bad but everything else about the job is rather terrible.

I work night shifts so my sleep patterns are ruined, I have trouble getting much sleep on my weekends (if I get any that is) and have next to zero social life.

I am still employed as a casual so I get a little more pay but no sick days or vacation days, AND I rarely get any public holidays off.

The condition of the place I work is deteriorating fast, equipment isnt properly maintained and the conduct of safety is declining.

Many fellow coworkers continue to falter in their paperwork (and generally just dont think for themselves) meaning I need to constantly help them out while attending to my duties, and the workers that are fully competent are spiteful and pessimistic (and I am leaning towards that way too).

My current position isnt as manually demanding as it once was but it does come with a lot more responsibilities. Some days are fairly lax while most are full on and hectic, often one problem occurs (and will occur) changing my entire plan for the shift. Oh, and my pay remains the same despite working in a more important role.

Upper management is slowly but surely distancing themselves from the production floor leading to frequent problems and ignoring worker morale/suggestions. They are too busy counting the money they earned from work that isnt finished yet.

The good? Well the shift leaders are all nice people and very understanding. I someone makes a mistake they simply accept it and we all move on.

....... wow, writing this made me confirm that I need to change jobs. Thanks.
