I manage a municipality. I enjoy it, it's interesting, challenging and you get to make a difference. Unfortunately it can also be very stressful. As the chief of staff, you have the responsibility of ensuring all departments and operations are running well - but that's the easy part. Because it's government, you report to a Council and there can be heavy amounts of politics, public scrutiny and irrational opinions. Managing personalities and human nature is exhausting. Every day can end up like an episode of Game of Thrones and I'm essentially the Hand of the King. Just like the show it's a very mixed bag.

Fortunately I will soon be moving into a new position which I think will be, overall, more relaxing, less political and potentially have greater moral and professional reward.

I like being my own boss and the freedom it affords me.

Day to day I wouldn't call it exciting, but any stress I deal with is self inflicted due to standards I have for myself as opposed to some supervisor.

Self employment would never work out for me but I'm glad there are people like you. What kind of company do you run?

Small business that works with supplying companies with all manner of materials they need. I travel all over the country, but generally I work 9-5 at the office which I also like as old jobs had me work odd hours and weekends.

That's why I would never want to work in a manager position. I don't like bureaucracy and red tape. Also having too much responsibility is never good. I know I will never get rich that way but at least I'll live longer due to less stress.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I do. The last few years had been quite bumpy for both my gf and me. My last job was terrible, my boss was a moron, I wasn't happy with neither the tasks nor the customers. She had a hard time studying pharmacy, but unfortunately had to quit after 3 years. Then she tried studying something else, but wasn't happy with it since it was just a second best option, but nothing that she could truly see herself doing for the rest of her life. And besides we weren't happy with the city we lived in. Too crowded, too noisy, too expensive.

We worked hard for our merry future and it payed out. She found a job in a different town and moved there while I stayed until I found one in that area as well. After half a year I was very lucky and found one, so we moved back together into a beautiful flat in a nice town, and now we can finally live the sweet and smooth life we dreamed of the whole time. Work is a very important part of that.

I am a HR specialist in a global, multi-divisional company. My team is fantastic, each member is highly competent, we have a very strong team spirit and help each other as much as possible. I have lots of nice, smart and beautiful ladies all around me (HR is very female-heavy), I really enjoy my tasks and I know that I play a very important role in the company's big schemes. I like my job so much that I even don't mind working overtime all that much. While I would only need to work 35 hours a week, I tend to do 45 to 50. And my salary is quite okay. Basically everything improved from just one year ago.

I love my job. I'm a caregiver for mental and physically disabled people. So I help them with their meds, cook, clean, and help them with their shopping. I also take them on car rides, walks, and other places like the pool or movies if they want. It's a fun and exciting job. I always love going. However, it can be occasionally dangerous... and if I work night shift I don't have anything to do so I play PS4 with my coworkers

My job is fine. It's a lot less pressure than what I used to do, but that last job in and of itself was good. But the writing is on the wall that the one person we don't want to be hired for a vacant supervision position is going to be hired for that position. I'll just leave it at that.

I love my current job! I work as a network admin at my small-mid sized company and work with both the network and the servers.

The medical benefits are amazing and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The pay is more than 25% increase over my previous job which has allowed me to afford a much nicer home in an ideal neighborhood. I am never too busy or too stressed out. I spend most of my time researching and learning which happens to be one of my favorite activities. I came into a network that was pretty haphazard and got it running smooth as butter. There used to be issues occurring every night, and now I can take a week off and no one would notice. I never go home stressed or aggravated anymore. I would like more pay, but then who wouldn't. All in all I have a great job that I love and am very happy in, and they are very happy with me.

My previous job was a level 1 helpdesk style support job that turned into second level and finally project based work. My last job was bad pay for what I did and they kept on adding more and more responsibilities but refused to pay more. The work atmosphere amongst colleagues was awesome but way too stressful. I used to be stressed for weeks at a time. Even though my job performance was leagues over everyone else's my boss would still find reason to complain. My performance was not just personal perception either, it was backed up by our SLAs which ranged from ticket closures to complaints and all the way to success of project completion on time. Probably the worst part about my last job was there was a total F-up there that should have been fired 10x over but still somehow had a job.Oh well.. enough ranting about what was. I left that place and for the better. I do really miss my old colleagues though, they were a lot of fun.

I basically do nothing at my job and get paid so it's alright.

You work in the white house ;D

I won't confirm or deny what I do. I'll just say that I work for a company that works for a company. The company that my company works for is my DREAM Employer! I get to represent them to the public and I love every minute. It's like my favorite hobby has become my work and I get to talk to other people who share my passion. The beginning of this year felt like my mighty forest burned down to the soil and a magnificent new future is peaking up from the dirt like a pair of babyleaves. I'm not getting paid what I could make if I choose to use my science degree. I drive an hour to and from work everyday and I'm heavily in debt. But I'm in love.
