Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you think the NX will be delayed until holiday 2017?

Is the NX delayed from its March announced release date?

What I will say is this: if it is delayed amd hence why we haven't heard a single thing about it in some time, I'd wager parts of the console went back to the drawing board, especially after Sony and Microsoft's announcements. Perhaps Nintendo thought their console simply wasn't going to push enough under the hood and are refining some things. Unfortunately, we have no idea at this point.

Nintendo isn't doing themselves and their customers any favors right now. Everyone is in the dark about the NX, which is a good thing up to a point. But for people like me, it's frustrating and I am not planning on making anymore investments in my 3DS and Wii U until I hear what's going on.

I don't plan on buying an NX, but I need to know what life cycle plans are for my current Nintendo consoles so I don't waste money.

Has a console ever been delayed? I'm not talking about a staggered launch across different regions, but its official debut launch? I dont think it has happened yet.

Nintendo is probably waiting till there is no distractions around it. I am thinking january 5th for the announcement. 2 months to generate hype should be enough.

I disagree. Spending season is over at that time, in fact paying off any credit cards or bills put off to get christmas presents usually take prority in Jan and Feb, not new products.

In that case, yes, holyday 2017, and they better go back to the drawning board, because the install base of the Ps4+PSPro will be around 60 million by then.

Also, if PSVR starts to get good software, you better believe the acessory can achieve 10 million units sold till then.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Nintendo isn't known to go back to the drawing board to get more power. (You can imagine Tim Alan voice there.) Plus that would bloat R&D for the device which we would see the effects of at the next investor's meeting if that is true.

NX was announced under some strange circumstances. It might be the first time, but it still wouldn't surprise me.

I'm fine with a holiday 2017 NX release.

Focus Early - late mid 2017 on more unique 3DS games, i friggin love my 3DS.

I have a huge backlog of PS3,PS4,DS and 3DS games to play, i can wait.

In fact i probably won't buy NX day one to avoid another Wii U situation.

This silence is pretty ominous, but it doesn't make sense why they would drop all support for the Wii U, if they're delaying it till holiday 2017..

Why wouldn`t it make sense? If they`re delaying it until holiday 2017 then obviously it was intended to be released earlier so the lack of Wii U support wouldn`t have been such a big blow. And if it is indeed delayed it`s not like they can turn round and pump out a Wii U game within a couple months just so they`re releasing something before waiting for the eventual NX release.

But then that doesn't match up with the Nintendo Direct earlier in September.

The announcement that it will launch in March 2017 has been up for some time, and moving into September, it would be pretty obvious if they could or could not reach that deadline. If they knew they needed more time for whatever reason, then they wouldn't have shyed away from releasing a couple or so random Wii U games. But instead, they only have new 3DS games and are even porting Wii U games. Because now, there is only 1 more Wii U games that is being developed by Nintendo, which is Zelda. Trying to throw in a couple of random games now to drag it out won't do them any good, since people wouldn't bother much anymore anyways

Just my thoughts though, could be completely wrong..

I think only N64 was delayed for one year.

People talking about delay of console like its matter of delay of game, but reality is that console are almost never getting delayed.

Next week we will know for sure that NX is still on track, Nintendo confirmed that NX news still coming this year.

True Nintendo of Europe if I'm not mistaken said it'd be announced this year to Wall Street Journal I believe.
