Forums - Gaming Discussion - No Hype for Titanfall 2? O_o

I might pick it up for the campaign, but not this year.

The multiplayer beta was bad. I think that is the reason. A lot of people who played the first game say that the sequel is worse.

How can you get anymore more hype than the game of the generation? No point trying to better that, is there?

After the mess they pulled with the first game it comes as no surprise.

Pretty much this.  The first left a bad taste in the mouths of many.  Sales were big but that was mostly due to the insane hype and massive discounts the game received.

Hopefully titanfall 2 is good and becomes a sleeper hit with good legs.

The tech test killed a lot of the hype.

It changed pretty much everything that made the original the best MP shooter since MW.

Crap. I hadn't heard about this. I love the original, and I agree it's the heir apparent to Modern Warfare.

What happened with the tech test?

Time to kill is shorter, mobility is toned down. Titans no longer have shields, you no longer rodeo them. You just jump on, pull out their batteries, hop off. You can then jump onto a friendly Titan and insert that battery, that's how a Titan gets shields. Yu can no longer customize a Titan, they now have set loadouts and classes with unique "super moves".

They also made it so enemy pilots glow reddish so they are a lot easier to spot. They also took out the Titan timer, you now have to kill Pilots and AI to get a Titan.

Among other changes. It certainly doesn't feel like TF1, which is easily the best MP shooter I have ever played. I still have faith in them and will it day one, but the hype is deflated and it seems the original TF will remain the GOTG.

Maybe releasing it sandwiched between Battlefield and COD wasn't the best idea.

Too many versions of the same game coming in the space of a few weeks

1. It has a poor release window, between BF1 and CoD and the same week as Skyrim Remastered.

2. The beta killed hype for some people because of differences compared to the first game

This post explains why.

Yeah releasing so close to far superior titles was so stupid.  Not only are EA putting it up against their rivals biggest shooter but they're also putting it up against their own biggest and best shooter.

The first was great, but post launch content and lack of SP hurt the brand. Apart from the gameplay, there just isn't a single memorable thing about Titanfall.

TF2 is a case of too little too late. And based on the beta, it's a bit of a downgrade from the first.

Lack of hype is justified. Also the game should have launched in march 2016 or March next year.
