Give them two weeks and they'll probably die down, I'm not looking forward to the morning of the 9th though.

That is a funny thing to be afraid of.. on a VIDEO GAME website.

The 8th and 9th are going to be so bad I'm tempted to not come on those days. Think about that. I'm thinking about avoiding a couple days of coming to a VIDEO GAME website because of politics.

I can understand the frustration because I'm sick of seeing politics everywhere (and I don't even live in the US!) but it's always been a part of the site and due to the structure of the front page, which only hosts about 15 threads, it can be a bit annoying when there's 5 big political threads with a lot of posts taking up a lot of space.

Alternatively you can use the main forum instead of the front page and use the filter to prevent any political threads from showing up and enjoy the forum without politics.

I've tried using hot topics before - it just doesn't feel right.I actually quite enjoy the articles on the front page. If I have to rely on "hot topics" to actually find the video game threads then I will miss out the articles. The video game articles on the video game website.

I could alternate checking each, but it is just more convenient to bookmark the front page.  To the left is the articles, to the right the threads.

Yeah that's probably the best solution for now.

2. Click on the link above

3. Use the filters

4. Stop crying

And here is another genius idea, don't click on topics you don't want to read.

And guess what, I've been visiting the website a lot more to look at political threads in particular. Some users here are very intelligent and I anticipate their posts and learn from what they have to say. Don't come on, others will.

Look at the front page. See those articles? Those aren't under hot topics.

Yesterday I wanted to look at a thread about the pro titles. It was on the front page, yet when I checked on it a second later it wasn't. You know why? Because of the political threads. So I had to go actually hunt down a VIDEO GAME THREAD on a VIDEO GAME FORUM.

Ironic you say "stop crying" when it seems very much like YOU Are crying about the MANY people that want political threads off the front page. Infact it appears to be winning this poll right now.

Ok.

So when you want to read the articles go to the home page. When you want to browse the forums, use the filters. The solution is there but you apparently just love to whine for no reason.

What poll? the one in this thread? I just voted and here are the results:

"Couldn't care less" + "fine with these threads"   >    "they seriously need to stop"

So no, the majority of voters are either fine or don't care if these threads keep on popping up. A meaningless poll anyway, because this thread has over 3k views and only 230 viewers voted. Actually, if you didn't turn my attention to it, I wouldn't have voted either.

One more thing, the 3 political topics under hot topics in the forums section of the site are among the most viewed recent topics on vgchartz. So you are wrong on all fronts.

As an agnostic, I agree with this 100%!!! It would be nice to have discussion regarding intelligent design but it's pretty discouraging to touch on the topic when anyone who isn't an atheist is labeled as ignorant or stupid.

I encourage you to read/listen/watch the work od David Berlinsky, which is a agnostic like you, but one of the strongest minds oposing the new antitheism of Dawkins and Chris Hitchens (RIP). You will be surprised. Also, check it out EXPELLED, a entire movie about the same issue you broght up.

I know proselitism is unconfortable and evangelism is most of the time unrequited, so I assure you these are nothing of the sort.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

The filters should apply to the front page, they don't. There is a reason to whine.

When you are done with the articles on the front page, just click on the forum tab. It's big, it's on top, it can't be missed.

It will take you to here: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/forums.php#content

Where you can view 30 threads in the hot topics section that you can easily apply filters too.

If you have time to whine and make assumptions about what the entire userbase of VGC actually want, you certainly have the time to move the cursor and click on the forum button/tab.

This is ridiculous. Almost firstworldproblems trollish levels of ridiculous.

Nah, layout in there is absolutely shite. I never use anything but the front page.

Exactly. I'm not the one calling them a cancer. I'm not saying remove them. I'm offering up two options

1) Make the filtering work on the front page.

2) Implement the "never on the front page" tactic of the NSFW on specific forums. Want to read them? Go find them - it isn't hard.

If we have the technology to customize what we can and can't see - why isn't it implemented for the FRONT page. The heart and soul of the website.

That is like having a nice clean office hidden in the back of the building, while the front where all the customers show up is a unorganized pig stye.

and I am offering a solution that's already implemented.

As I said, if we go by the numbers of views the political/relgious threads get, it shows that they are integral to this website userbase. They get numerous clicks.

If that is the case then the site is doing something very wrong.

Lay off a bit here, these last couple of post have been getting a bit heated. Along with that this argument is going nowhere fast.
